Babies: 6 - 9 Months

How did your babe do with the flu shot?

Heading off to our 6 month well visit in 30 minutes.  His general reaction to previous shots has been a very sleepy, cuddly baby for the rest of the day.  He has had a low-grade fever once from it.

Did you think your baby reacted the same to the flu shot as s/he did to other vaccines?

  • He got the first half the same day as his 6 month vaccines and I didn't notice any difference. He was a little sleepy, but never extremely grumpy. The flu vaccine shouldn't cause any flu like symptoms since it's not the living virus. It's just enough small pieces of the virus so your body still reacts and builds up antibodies. GL!

  • DD did fine with her flu shot-- no fever and no need for Tylenol.  We didn't do it with her other shots though-- we waited a week to do the flu shot.

  • DD had hers last week along with 2 other 6 month vaccines and she didnt have any problems at all same sweet girl as always, no fever and no sickness.  GL!

  • The shots before this were horrible (screamed all day) but did GREAT with the 6 month shots (including the flu shot). Hopefully your LO will do great too... GL!

  • DS got the flu shot w the other 6 mo shots & he was a little more fussy than normal, but nothing major.

    The booster was easy peasy.

  • Only had the 1st dose so far. She got it about 3-4 weeks after her 6 month shots.  This was the best vaccine yet. Only cried for literally 2 seconds after and no change in behavior, energy level, or appetite after.

When I got my flu shot they made me hang around Rite-Aid to make sure I wasn't going to have a reaction even though I had a flu shot before.  But we left right after DD's 1st dose of any flu shot ever and were not asked to stay for observation.  Wonder why?  Maybe Rite-Aid is more worried about liability issues?

  • Back from our appt.  He handled the shots like a champ, but I cried of course.  Here's hoping he doesn't feel too poorly the rest of the day.

  • I'm not sure how my DD reacted with her first flu shot.  It was done at her 6-month appointment so she was crying from all the shots and had a low-grade fever the next day.  We just got her second flu shot about a week ago and she didn't even notice.  Seriously she was laying on the table and the nurse gave the shot and DD didn't even flinched.  Just played with her pacifier like nothing had happened.  No fever or fussiness afterwards either!  I think reactions can vary by child!
