Diet soda has zero carb and sugar. Does that mean i am allowed to drink it? Not that i will only drink that..im just getting bored with water and milk!
For dinner i had: 1 bread stick, salad,2 pieces of a medium sized pepperoni pizza, milk and a diet coke. Used 4 units of insulin and after 2 hrs got a number of 104, Was really excited!!
THEN
Today for lunch i had a BLT on wheat bread, fries and a diet coke 2 units of insulin- did alot of walking while shopping and 2 hrs later i got a 136!
I dont get it!

I have had the same experience. For some reason I am much better at breaking down white carbs than complex carbs. I don't understand why, it should be the opposite. I would be perfectly fine with a regular english muffin but when I switched to the multigrain I was 151 (I test after 1 hour). It's weird what your body can and cannot process. I can process potatoes but not pasta.
Also, I find I can handle more carbs at lunch than dinner. Maybe you are better at digesting carbs at dinner than lunch? Who knows. It gets so frustrating.
Diet soda is ok!! I drink that and diet iced tea to mix it up.
I find I really cannot handle white carbs or fruit at lunchtime! Totally spikes me up... but I can hog out on pizza at dinner and be totally fine. Time of day can play a big difference!
My dietician told me no diet soda....But I just can't seem to give it up all together so for now one 20 oz Diet Dr Pepper a day is gonna happen. My sister is a type 1 Diabetic and has been told by her endo that diet soda in moderation is fine. I can't seem to eat pasta even in small portions without my numbers creeping up but I can eat potatoes and they seem ok.. I think it is all in how your body processes things. Good Luck!
This is me too. My dinner numbers are always the lowest, so I try to be extra good for lunch and usually eat a lean cuisine then a yogurt and cheese for snack. For dinner I'm usually fine with pizza, pasta, bread, etc but I have to have everything eaten by 8 or 9, otherwise my fasting numbers start to screw up. I really think you process each type of food differently at different times of the day. I'd start to keep a log of all this stuff so that way you know if you're craving a sandwich or something when will be the best time for you to try and eat it throughout the day.
