We have a boy name chosen and are thinking about the girl name. My initial favorite is Lila Audrey, but MIL has a negative association with the name Lila, and has joked before about calling the baby by its middle name if its first name is Lila. Would you take that into consideration? [Poll]

Haha. Funny you should mention the FIL. All I know is MIL said that a lady named Lila "almost made us break up sooner than we did." They have been divorced for around 2 years now, but she in some way almost sped the process up? I'm not sure what that means, but it implies a possible affair or something similar. Right?

I voted Lila Audrey. It's a great name that you love and I say don't let MIL's negative association sway your decision. No one liked our name choice for DS#2 at first, but now everyone loves it (or knows it's too late to do anything about it, lol).

this completely... Nora Audrey flows so well. sounds like she's the type who would be unhappy with ANYTHING besides what she wants... its your little one. do what makes you happy

This is actually a useful piece of information. It sounds like your FIL could, in fact, have had an affair with someone named Lila. Knowing that, I would probably stay away from the name, no matter how much I loved it. There are names we stayed away from in the naming process out of principle and these included our own ex's as well as my father's ex-wife's name (out of consideration for my mother) and my brother's ex whom he was with for almost 10 years before meeting the woman he has now been married to for over 15 years (out of consideration for my SIL).

I don't like the way the A in Lila bleeds into the A in Audrey. It sounds like "Lilaudrey" when I say it. I voted for Audrey Nora...I love the name Audrey, by the way!

YOWZA.  I thought I was being facetious....

If there is that possibility, it sounds like more than your MIL could have bad associations with the name.  I'd reconsider.  And I can't believe I'm saying that.

I like Audrey Hannah. Not a fan of Lila and I definitely wouldn't suggest using it after reading that Lila may have had an affair with your FIL.

I am just not an Audrey/Aubrey fan... just NMS, but I think Lila is SOOO pretty!

I want to change my vote now that I know your MIL's reason for disliking Lila. I would steer clear of Lila unless you want a bad relationship with your MIL for the rest of your life. My new pick is the pp that suggested Nora Audrey. Love the way it flows.
