The purpose of a registry

I stand by my rant and see no need to justify my gratitude, or lack thereof.  It was me in a less-than-graceful moment, me in a less-than-kind light.  But I won't be bullied.  Yes, sometimes I can be bratty, sometimes I'm just not at my best.  I do have bad days and yesterday was one of them.   

But I don't play with bullies.  And I think it's unattractive to be so self-righteous and descend on someone who felt safe enough to say a little bit of a forbidden sentiment - one that I'm sure you've all shared at some point in your life.  

 I am a grown up and I can take whatever you all want to dish out.  Just know that at some point I might be in a position to give you some good advice or some kind words, which I intend to do no matter how judgmental all of this negativity sounds.

So, I'm not going to apologize, unless it's to myself.  Had a bad day and now I'm going to go squeal over all the good swag I got at my shower, and start those thank you cards some of you are so sure are foreign to me.  

I thought that girl that said "e-tard" got it pretty bad.   Man, I hope one day it's your turn to walk in her shoes.

To the ballsy chicks who actually stood up for me - thanks man.  Positive thoughts attract other positive thoughts.  Unfortunately, so do negative thoughts. 

Everybody:  let's go take a nap and remember:  nobody's as bad as you make them out to be.  So step off.  

P.S. I blocked Kdodge from another post because she's the queen of abuse - so, fortunately it works for this thread too!  Yay!  I'm soooo grateful.

Okay, I'm sooooo grateful, really.  But I spent a long time on that registry.  It's all the stuff we need.  And when you go and get things that aren't on it, like an ass-load of newborn clothes - yes they're cute  - or buy something that somebody's already bought from the registry, or buy the off brand boppy with all the extra crap on it I don't need - it just makes everything hard.  This is why we have registries, and why we bother to print out a little card in the invitation telling you where it is:  So you can just buy me the stuff I need and want.  To avoid buying triples of the excercise mat, so that I don't end up with a hell of a lot of cute clothes and no bathtub, no stroller, and no diapers.  So YOU don't waste your hard-earned money.  All those onesies with the little feet and the little hats are awesome, but my baby's butt needs to be wiped forty times a day and we might just be using those onesies instead of wipes, especially when he grows out of said onesies in three months.  I know you mean well, and I really, really am grateful.  But please, stick to the gameplan.   

Okay.  I'm done now.  Whew.  Felt good.  

I hear ya! I haven't had my baby showers yet, but I had similar experiences with our bridal registry. My DH's family mostly gave us, well regifted crap. Either stick with the registry or give a check. It's not that hard people. And wedding things are just "nice" not a necessity like baby stuff!!! 

You have been slowly moving down the road to doucheville with your posts.

She isn't abusive. Though I am sure she is crying giant tears right now over being reported. 

You are not being bullied.

If you want sunshine blown up your butt when you act like a spoiled entitled brat maybe BabyGaga or Babycenter are for you. This place takes a much thicker skin. Most of us have been flamed at one time or another, accept it and move on. I have been here a sight longer than you have and if I had posted the same thing I would have gotten the same response. 

Just because most people here didn't agree with your behavior and attitude doesn't make anyone here a bully, crap-talker, or negative.

I don't mind taking what I dish out, and I appreciate the way you said that.  But calling somebody terrible names is going off the deep end.  There were plenty of negative responses that I didn't have a problem with.  Believe me, I've got a thick skin - but I do stand up for myself when people call me what she called me and then repost to rub it in.  Not cool.

Honey, you committed the number one sin on the trimester boards ... you biicthed and moaned about people giving your gifts for your child.  OH WOE IS YOU.  Heaven forbid you now have to waddle your own butt back to BRU and return the 'off brand' Boppy your received to get the more expensive one you want.  What a travesty.  

Grow up.  And stop whining.  A lot of the women on this board won't even GET a shower for their baby.

very true.  only for weddings do i look at it,and even then i usually send money.  baby showers i always give the same gift unless i have to mail it and then i order straight from the registry.

A lot of people don't post bios.  And whatever you mean about a real pic... I can't see what yours is either.  And again... a lot of people post things besides a shot of themselves as a profile pic.  

I was abusive.  I said what people were thinking.  If you want to play Big Balls McGee and post some crap like you did, be ready to take the hell you're about to hear.  Period.  

As for reporting me... you're a little late to the show.  It's been done so many time I lost count months ago.

I can see where she's coming from but I'm also the type that hates to receive ANY gift.  I think it's more of an inconvenience having to return gifts, fake excitement at receiving them, and wasting time and energy putting together a registry.

We made a strict rule that our shower host and family reinforced: DONATE THE MONEY TO CHARITY or bring your favorite book--duplicates will be donated to the local Children's Hospital.

LMAO! you clearly have no clue what the word bully means. No one is bullying you, we are merely pointing out the idiocy of your statements. You may think that you are acting a certain way, but when the majority take the statements a certain way perhaps you should rethink your own standpoint.

Yes - When I spend $100+ on you for your wedding/baby shower and you get me used/damaged/illogical items as a present or are too incompitent  to figure out how a registry works - don't talk to me anymore. Scat ;D I would rather you came giftless and didn't make me trek my pregnant @ss out trying to unload the junk on charities or returning it.
