? about boiling hemp inserts

Does boiling hemp inserts cut down on the number of times you would need to wash in hot water (in the washer) and then dry?

I boiled 6 inserts for 20 minutes this morning then dried them with some other laundry. I am now washing them on hot in the washer with regular laundry and will dry them again. (I don't usually wash regular laundry on hot, but figured I'd do a load of whites on hot so I could throw the hemp inserts in with them).

I know it's recommended to wash any dry up to 6 times, but was hoping that boiling them would cut down on the number of times I needed to that.....didn't want to waste anymore more water than needed.

How many more times would you say I should boil them again?

Thanks!

  • which brand are they? a lot of the hemp inserts that I can think of off the top of my head come prepped already.... but either way i think boiling for 20 minutes is like two washes but I could be wrong.

I can't remember the brand....but they weren't a popular, everyday brand. I got them off one of those daily deal sites a while back.

  • i think you are good to go! If you want to throw them in with some towels or something else for another cycle, it would only make them more absorbent.

When i sew new hemp inserts, I wash/dry on hot 2x before i sew them, then one time in with other laundry, then i start to use them. They might not be a "full' absorbency, but they work fine from the get-go.

Awesome. They are contoured, so I was actually going to be using them as doublers, so they won't be used alone. I figure they will work fine when paired with another hemp insert and then just get more abosorbant as I wash/dry them.
