Anyone watch Pioneer Woman vs. Bobby Flay?

It was a Thanksgiving Throwdown special that aired earlier this week.  Ree won but it all looked delicious, especially Bobby's Pumpkin Bread Pudding.  I wasn't going to cook a traditional T-day meal for just dh and myself but I may have to after watching that show.  Yum!

Re: Anyone watch Pioneer Woman vs. Bobby Flay?

  • I am so sad that I missed this!
  • I saw the beginning of it and TiVo'd it; I might watch the rest of it tonight.  I am sure I will gain 5lbs just watching it! LOL

  • I know exactly what you mean!  We weren't going to have stuffing but it inspired me to make it ;)  I wanted to be there to sample all of their foods...yummy!

I'm sorry I spoiled the ending for you, SBDC.  My bad.  You kind of knew that she would win since she "challenged" him this time.  Again, sorry.

  • Foodnetwork.com has the rerun times posted and recipe links here.

  • I'm surprised.  Based on her site, PW's cooking seems to be mainly canned, prepared ingredients and Lawry's Seasoning (which I bought, on her rec, and I can't believe anyone ingests that stuff).  I mean, some of the stuff tastes great, but hardly what I'd call chef-worthy cooking.  Maybe I'm just not looking at the right recipes.

Some of my favorite cooking blogs, like smitten kitchen, have been invited to her house to cook with her, and I always feel they are way out of her league, much less Bobby Flay.

  • Ooh, I hope they re-air it.  I *need* to see how to make that pumpkin bread pudding!

I don't find the bolded part to be true at all!  Weird.

  • I have it dvr'd, was going to watch it tonight.
  • I totally forgot to watch it. I have to admit I have a crush on Bobby Flay anyway. I rarely miss a new episode of Throwdown, so I can't believe I forgot!

Um, yeah.  I've got her cookbook, and I've used a ton of her recipes.  I don't think this is true at all.

Are we looking at the same website?

Are you looking at the PW site? I have cooked a  ton of her dishes and would cook more but they are a lot more from scratch then I like to do.

  • Maybe she's seen the recipes I've seen? I've only seen a few recipes, and they called for things like cream of chicken/cream of mushroom. I tend to avoid any recipe that calls for anything canned or pre-packaged, so I just didn't look at any more of her recipes. See? I could be totally wrong, and perhaps Aggie hasn't seen a ton of them, either.
  • I used to look at her site.  I did the chicken spaghetti (gross after the first time) and the hot crash potatoes (eh) and her husband's favorite sandwich (OK, but have had much better similar sandwiches and the addition of the Lawry's is just disgusting).  I stopped after that, although I still do the potatoes from time to time.  At the time, about a year ago, she didn't have loads of recipes.

  • Maybe she's looking at the Tasty Kitchen spinoff? Those are recipes from all over the place, not just PW.
