I had another appointment yesterday afternoon, and will be 34 weeks tomorrow. Apparently, I am measuring 1-2 weeks ahead based on fundle height. Is anyone else measuring that off? They said that LO may have had a growth spurt and that it could balance out over the next few weeks, but I am now going weekly to keep an eye on the size. Although I am excited at the thought of meeting him or her earlier than anticipated, it's also a bit stressful because I could have that much less time to get things together. PLUS- it would put me due either Dec 18 or Christmas! Yikes!!!
Re: Measuring Ahead?!
This, I have measured ahead and evened out 3 times now. DR keeps an eye on it, but for me it's just growth spurts.
Measuring ahead or behind has nothing to do with when you'll actually deliver LO. Fundal height measurements can be off b/c of fluid levels or the position of the baby. U/S measurements can be off by as much as 3w in either direction in the 3rd tri - it's all just estimation anyway.
My LO has measured "ahead" since my very first u/s at 6w3d, when he measured 6w5d. The further along I've gotten, the more "ahead" he's been. (I keep putting ahead in quotes b/c we were undergoing fertility treatments and know the exact date of ovulation, and can pinpoint conception to w/i 24 hours). At my last growth scan (last week), he was measuring about 1.5w ahead, which put him in the 69th percentile for gestational age - still well within normal parameters. It's not something to worry about. Oh, and I have high fluid levels, and my fundal height is still always normal or within the margin of error as well.
I'm measuring 7 weeks ahead. It doesn't change my due date, though, as it can be affected by anything. Yes, the baby can be measuring ahead as well, but it's also affected by previous births, shape/orientation of uterus, etc.
I wouldn't worry about it at all.
