Update to my OB appointment today...sigh LONG

So, let me start by saying i have been reminding DH about this appt. for a while now.  i asked him many times to please make sure he's home in time so i can get to this appt. so i didn't have to take DS.  he said no problem and he'd be home by 4 (appt. at 445).  Needless to say he was not home on time.  i had to wake up DS from his nap, get him ready to go, and started driving only to find out that DH was home so i quick turned around and dropped DS off w/ DH.  i was livid.  i just couldnt believe that he couldn't get home on time when it's his own business and could have easily left early for me.

Ok so here's the low down on my appointment...

I tried my best to be strong and not cry but after the fight i had w/ DH and my anger from being 20min. late, i cried as soon as i started talking about my m/c in may.  ugh. 

Basically she said she'd refer me to an RE whenever i like but i might as well start off w/ some simple blood test, the typical CD 3 and CD 21 blood work. so i have the script for that.

then she said she's seen many cases like mine before and the minute they tried clomid they got pregnant. so after the blood test results she may suggest clomid. 

As for the monthly YI's she said to call next time i have one and come in that day to be checked out so they can find out for sure if it's YI or something else.

i feel good that i'm finally getting some testing done but alittle disappointed that nobody seems to care that i suffer monthly from irritation or YI's. 

having some wine now to unwind b/c i feel like a crazy woman. 

oh yah, she also said to stop temping but i can continue using opks.

oh sweetie what a frustrating day I am glad you got some answers ....Men can be so upsetting ...I would be frustrated as well about the YI at least she told you to call so they can see you if it happens again ..have a big glass of wine and you aren't a crazy woman...just curious why she said to stop temping but to do opk's just to pinpoint the surge? {{{{HUGS}}}}}

I am glad that they are moving forward with the testing. You should get some clarity there and hopefully a speedy fix. And no answer on the YI, ugh.

she said she worked w/ a fertility specialist and supposedly he said he never recommended temping b/c it was silly that the first thing you'd think about in the morning was your fertility and that it wasn't necessary for people who were well aware of their cycles.  she just said that opks can get expensive so it was up to me if i wanted to continue w/ that.  i'll continue w/ them just b/c i ordered 40more.  LOL

i was wondering the same thing about my BP b/c they did take it but it was after i was waiting a while so i guess it was ok.  they never told me what it was.  darn it.

Arrrgh.  I'm so sorry that your appointment started out with frustration & that you don't feel all of your needs were completely addressed.  FWIW, they probably can't tell exactly what's going on with your monthly YIs (or whatever they are) until you're in the midst of a flare up & they can do some testing.  Which sucks.   

I'm glad that you're at least getting the testing done.  Is she planning on starting the Clomid on your next cycle then?  I'm also glad she gave you the OK to stop temping (if I remember correctly, it tends to stress you out, right?).  

Well, I hope the wine at least helps for tonight.  And I hope that you feel better once the bloodwork gets going & you (hopefully) get some answers.

What a day! Yea for making it through this. You are on the right track. My RE doesn't like charting either, same thing - it caused me more stress then good. I would wake up all the time thinking i forgot to temp. If they put you on clomid, will the cycles be monitored?

i think she wants to wait for my blood test results till she'd prescribe clomid which means i wouldn't start that until the new year.  ugh. 

and yes, temping totally stresses me out so that's good, i'll be done w/ that.  i may temp at specific times of my cycle but that's it. 

thanks for rooting for me.  i think i need a 2nd glass of wine.

exactly me, i start waking up earlier and earlier just to temp and then i mess up my sleep and become even more miserable.  lol

i didn't even ask if i'd be monitored if i start clomid.    all i remember her saying is that she didn't want to start me on anything like that until she got my results.  unfortunately i'll have to wait till next cycle just to get the cd 3 testing. ugh.

sorry you had such a crappy day!  It's great that you are moving forward with your care.  I hope the testing brings you some answers and, more importantly, a healthy baby.  :0)

I'm sorry about DH being late.  That's so frustrating!  As for the appt., that's great that they are going to do testing, so hopefully you can get some things figured out and get a good plan in place!

I think that sounds like a good plan for now.  Good news is you could start Clomid right after the CD3 bloodwork next cycle.  Although hopefully there won't be a next cycle.

It sounds like the appointment went well and she's taking steps to help you move forward with TTC.   I think it was a good call to have you come into the office next time you're having a YI/symptoms, sounds like she wants to make sure that is what's really going on and to treat it properly.

 

I hear ya about how frustrating dhs can be when it comes to being on time.......my dh is very calm and blase' about things like that and it drives me up the wall sometimes!  I hope the wine helped!!!

That's great she's getting a jump on some of the blood work, and at least if you have to have another YI they are taking it seriously to check it out so they treat it right.  ((hugs))

Do you think i'd get the blood results that quick that i could start clomid that same cycle?  i've heard of ladies starting clomid on cd 3 or cd 5, so maybe if the test results came in by cd 5 i could start it that same day??  hmm....

and i'm glad i'm finally getting some testing done!  i really hope it reveals something, whether it's good or bad, i just want to know.  So now i'm just waiting till cd 21 to get here.  I have a feeling i'm going to O later this cycle b/c i'm not taking vitex and i should be o'ing from my left side which is usually alittle later (yes, i know my cycle, very, very, well) so if i don't O till around cd 18 should i call my ob and tell them?  I'm not sure if they'd still want me to get blood work done on cd 21 then?

Husbands can be frustrating. I'm glad she's starting the process, it will make it easier if you need to go and see the RE. Good luck!

Do you generally O on CD14?  If not, then b/w on CD21 won't be accurate.  If I were you I'd still be temping so I'd know exactly when I O'd and when 7dpo was so I could get b/w on the right day.  Just something to take in to consideration...

No, i'm not a cd 14 o'er.  i usually O around cd 17 so i guess i'll  call and let them know my O date when it happens.  Hopefully then i'll  go on the correct 7dpo.

Glad that you have a plan going forward.  Did she say whether she would monitor you on Clomid.  Clomid does work for some many people, but there are some definite drawbacks too.  I'm glad she'll refer to you an RE whenever you're ready.  I hope the bloodwork comes back good!

she never mentioned anything about monitoring me on clomid.  she just said she wanted to get the blood tests done first and i guess go from there.  i'm very interested in what my bw results will reveal.

Babes what a crazy day!  I think the police would have been called to my house in your situation...I would have punched DH for being so insensitive.  Guys never cease to amaze me.

Your appointment sounds great!  I love when a plan is put into action.

DH has some serious making up to do...
