    Are they kidding?

DH just asked me why I was making "that face." I told him, and he said, "jerkin Gherkin?"

Poor kid is going to be tormented even if people have never heard of the pickle.

I'm always amazed at what people name their kids. Some recent winners:

Charl8 - yes, alphanumeric for the txtr crowd

Chlamydia - this one crops up every few months

    Female - Fuh-mal-ee

and my favorite from last year:

Xtqshaniqua - she informed me that the XTQ were "silent". Umm, you don't get to just randomly make letters silent.

If you ever want to see some AWESOME baby names, hang out in an ER.

My kids will be named Jane and Bob for this reason.

    Sincerely,

    MyHeavnlyEarth*

*the other winner name from last week. Aren't there rules for naming your child???

Hopefully the child has a semi-normal middle name he can fall back on.

    how do you say that?!?

I've heard some real winners - dh's cousin used to be a teacher in a public school in a very poor part of southern Alabama. She had some crazy names on her class list.

Another favorite - Usnave. Oos - Nav - Ay.

She said her mom used to walk the beach when her mom was pregnant with her and would see planes overhead with this name on it....

She was Puerto Rican, I'm only assuming that her mom was watching target practice in Vieques  and named her child after the US Navy planes that flew by.

Not really a "stupid" name, but interesting nonetheless.

DH coworker named his son Griffen. When I found out I was with my MIL and she asked me if they named him after Harry Potter. They call him Griffy for short! Poor kid. He is such a cutie too! Had a family friend that name their son Pascal and called him Pasi for short. I understand people want to be different but goodness.
