Tips for babyproofing home?

Not that D is going to crawl tomorrow but I'd love to host a play date before he does!!  Just worried that our house isn't "mobile child" ready.  What did you guys do to prepare your homes for LO?  We have our electric outlets already covered and a gate for the stairs (both thanks to the previous homeowner!).  Our garbage also has a lock on it (bought this one when I saw my little nephew attacking my brothers garbage every other minute!).  We don't have our lower cabinets child proofed yet but besides that I can't really think of what else needs to be done.  Ideas?

Re: Tips for babyproofing home?

  • That's all we have--outlet covers, gates at the top & bottom of the stairs, and the bottom kitchen cabinets are locked.. We also don't have much of anything on any coffee tables or end tables.

  • I would just make sure when the time comes that there isnt' anything hanging anywhere, cords, etc. that he could grab. That was/is a big one for our little guy right now. And as sure as you think you have everything baby proofed, he'll find something else you didn't think of! Wink
  • We just have outlet covers, the kitchen is gated off from the living room since we are renting im not going through and putting locks on the kitchen cabinets since its not my property. We have since put door knob covers in his room on the bedroom door and closet door. Like hughes we dont have anythign really within his reach in the living room cuz otherwise we'd be having to follow behind him 24/7. thats the biggest thing to me is stuff on end tables and coffee tables.
