How soon did you try/get pregnant after D&C or miss

Hi.

I was wondering when  you concived after your loss. My doc said no sex until 14 days after D&C (a week from today), and I was thinking of starting to try then. I know my doctor said there is no reason to not try right away, but I am not sure if he meant after my first cycle.

I know I should call the office to clarify, and I will, but I was wondering what you ladies have expereineced or heard from your doctor. How fast did you get pregnant?

I was on pelvic rest (no sex) for 2 weeks post-D&C, then told to wait until after at LEAST one normal AF before TTC again (my OB really wanted me to wait 2 cycles, but I broke her down).  I was anovulatory for awhile after the D&C (which I attribute more to the stress from work than any residual hormones, etc., but it's normal to have an anovulatory cycle after a m/c or D&C).  Finally (& gratefully) got our second BFP after 11 cycles of TTCAL.  Really hoping to hold on to this one!

Very similar to this. I was told to obstain about 3 weeks (got rechecked) then they said to wait for the first cycle for extra healing time and if I were to get pg dating it would be harder if it was right away and not with a LMP date.

After my first miscarriage it took us 3 months to get pregnant again. I was 6 weeks along when i lost the baby. After my second miscarriage it also took us three months to get pg again. I was 9.5 weeks along at that point. So all in all about 8 months.

I would have been almost 10 weeks at my D&C so it may be different depending on how far along you were.

We were told no sex for 4 weeks.  Then we were told to wait at least 2 cycles before trying again.

Also, I had the D&C in February and I got my BFP in June (I technically got pregnant in May).  To be clear, though, I have/had shorter cycles and had 4 or 5 cycles in that time frame.

Im sorry for your loss.  My doc told me we could start TTC again after two months assuming I had a normal cycle.  I did and we conceived during the third month.  I was 13 weeks pg when I had my loss.  I honestly don't remember how long he told us to wait before having sex after the D&C.  Good luck to you!

After my D&C, my doctor cleared me after my betas went down to 0 (which took about two weeks) to try again right away. For peace of mind, I decide to wait one cycle. I got pregnant the first cycle I tried. I wish you the best.

I was told that I could go ahead and try again immediately as well (as in, before my 1st AF). We chose to wait one cycle and try again after that, just in case. I had my D&C on 1/26/10, started my first AF on 2/22/10, and was pregnant on 6/5/10. We were trying that whole time from Feb through to when I got a BFP, I think it was 4 cycles.

Our doctor told us to wait until I had completed two menstrual cycles. This allows them to be able to properly date the pregnancy and see that your baby is growing at the correct rate. It took about two months for me to get my period for the first time. After a miscarriage in March, I am now 16 weeks pregnant with a perfectly healthy boy. We are overjoyed.

I had a natural m/c in May, waited one cycle to try, and got pregnant again in August

We were told that we could start trying as soon as the bleeding stopped after my D&C (before I even got my next AF).  We decided to sit that cycle out, which worked out anyway because I didn't end up ovulating that cycle.  I got my BFP the second cycle trying after the annovulatory cycle.  GL to you!

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I had a miscarriage in March.  It was a missed m/c at 11w3d and I had a D&C.  My doctor said there is no reason to wait, other than to have a 1st period for dating purposes if I were to get pregnant again.  I was pregnant again in April, before my first AF.  I am now 34 weeks along and doing really well.

I am so sorry for your loss! 

It took 2 cycles to get pregnant with my DS, then 2 cycles to get pregnant with my loss, and then 10 months-- which ended up being 7 cycles to get pregnant with this baby.  We were not told we had to wait.  My cycles were so out of whack that it it actually took two cycles of Clomid for this pregnancy--- when the other two happened so easily and quickly.

I had a natural m/c at ~7wks and got pregnant the first cycle we weren't avoiding.  Good luck and I hope we see you over here soon!

We were told to wait one cycle after my D&C and I got pregnant the next cycle. Best of luck to you!

I had a D&C and was told to wait three months after before trying again, which we did.  I was also put on pelvic rest for 2 weeks post D&C. 

D&C was December 16th, we started trying again in March and I got pregnant with this LO in April.

My doc said there was no need for me to wait at all, not even for the next AF... like previous posters have mentioned, the benefit of waiting is dating purposes, but my doc said that the ultrasounds can do a good job of that.  I got a BFP yesterday, still VERY nervous.  Good luck to you.  *hugs*

I was always told one cycle post early loss, and three cycles post d&c.

We followed those guidelines, and have always conceived first cycle we tried.

I had a natural m/c at 7 weeks.  My doctor told me to wait one month simply for dating purposes.  However, it took me 9 cycles before we got two pink lines.  I am now 22 weeks along.  Good luck.

we weren't told either way (to wait or not) but got pg before i had a cycle after the last d&c. we had bfp about 6 weeks after d&c. good luck to you and im sorry for your loss.

My doctor said there wasn't need to wait after my missed m/c with d&c. I had 1 normal cycle and got my next BFP 2 months after the d&c. But that pregnancy ended naturally at about 5 weeks and the bleeding was really light so I kind of feel like I had no lining for implantation and if maybe we had waited longer we could have had a different outcome but there's no way of knowing for sure. Got pregnant again 5 months later (currently 20 weeks!) but had some pharmaceutical assistance that I really think is what helped us get this far.
