Last Monday at 8weeks3days i had an u/s that showed a healthy pregnancy, strong baby, strong hb 178, and had the dr tell my husband and I that our pregnancy should be "excellent and clear sailing".
I met with our nurse on Friday to go over all of the details of what was to come. At the appointment she told me i should get the flu shot. I advise her about my concerns. For starters i never get the flu, i never had a flu shot, and i really just wasnt comfortable getting one this early. But she advised that it would be beneficial for my baby, so of couse, i caved.
Three days later, on monday, at 9wks 3days, i had a spontanious miscarriage. No one could give me an explanation of how things could so quickly change within a week. The feeling of guilt is so overwhelming. I jump on the internet to see if i can connect w/ people in my situation, and i was shocked to see how many threads i was coming across that talked about miscarrying 3 days after getting the flu shot.
It could be an absolute coincidence, but then again, maybe it's not? Regardless, i feel guilty, and know if my heart i should not have gotten that shot on Friday. We'll never know what caused this, so i'll forever blame myself for caving and going against my gut. I'll never ever do that again.

Just one more (sorry but I keep finding more)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94tica5mbvgThank you for sharing. I know it my heart this is what happened to me. I just know it. If only there was a way to prove it to prevent this from happening to other women.
I cried while watching these. If only I researched this before hand. I had no idea i'd be offered a shot at the visit- i was told it was only to get some documents and receive some information. If I would of known i would of researched it. I feel so stupid. And so guilty. I should of known better
Jen you should not blame yourself...these drug companies should feel guilty not you. I am terribly sorry for your loss.
So many people don't believe that this is true but there are too many "coincidences" for me to not believe it .
Is there risks associated just if you are in the 1st trimester from getting this shot? I got the flu shot last week at my weekly ob visit but have had no side effects. I was unsure about getting it and asked my ob what the risks where and she said none at all.
Did you get the H1N1 shot or he shot for just influenza, I was told they where different.
Oh No Jenn! I remember you from the TTC board. I am so sorry for your loss.
Please try not to blame yourself. Plenty of OBs say it is fine to have the flu shot during the first tri-mester. Unfortunately there hasn't been enough testing to prove coincidence or cause either way. Feeling guilty will only make you feel worse. Be sure to take care of yourself. I know you probably don't remember me but if you need someone to talk to please feel free to PM me. You and your family are in my thoughts & prayers.

OP: I am so sorry for your loss and try not to blame yourself. For every one of these bad stories connecting the vaccine to m/c, there are (I would guess) hundreds of people who got the vaccine and didn't miscarry. It may just be a really horrible coincidence. The self-doubt is crippling, though.
This year the H1N1 was included in the "regular" flu shot.
