delivering triplets at 38 weeks?

I was talking to the doc at my MFM yesterday and asked if she had a guess at how far I would make it based on my shortening cervix issues (no other complications so far) and she said average is 34-36 but they'll try to push me to 38 weeks.  

I'm ok to go as long as I can to cook these little guys, but 38 weeks seems extra long for trips.  I feel like I've read here that many of your docs wouldn't let you go past 36, WDYT?

My doc's goal for me was 37 to 38 weeks  I thought it was crazy too, especially because by 30 weeks you get sooo uncomfortable. But my body had other plans.... But I guess they figure the longer they cook the healthier they are when they are born. And NICU time sucks! So I wish you all the best mama!

Good lord! That's a bit excessive. I've always heard that the risks outweigh the benefits after 36 weeks.

And average is 32-33 weeks, so don't feel bad if you don't make it to 34 or 36 weeks. Yeesh.

 ditto.  My dh's cousin had a scheduled c/s at 36w - it was the latest they'd let her go with trips.

Good lord, 38 weeks with triplets? When i was pregnant with the twins they told me no more than 38 weeks and I went into labor at 36weeks!

I have never heard of any one who had triplets going past 36 weeks but man if there is someone out there they are a GOD in my eyes because i was miserable at 36 weeks with twins

My MFM wanted me to go to 37-38 weeks, I thought he was crazy too, but I had great pregnancy until 33w,so my doc kept saying oh you'll make it atleast 37 weeks... my body had other plans though so don't stress on that time frame too much, just try to get as far as you can...GL

YIKES, I was so ready to be done by 34 weeks.  My doc wouldn't let me go past 37 weeks if I were to make it that far.  My pregnancy was awesome with no complications until that 33w u/s. 

Just do all you can to keep those babies in there and your body will decide when the babies need to come.  Like pp have said, the average is 33 weeks.

My doctor basically said whenever I wanted LOL.... I think he was very smart actually and felt it wasn't necessary to stress mom's out -- I think he knew that most mom's wouldn't even be in that position -- so why create the stress. 

I had a c-section booked for 35 weeks because that's what I requested for the 08/08/08 birthday   he had agreed.  My water broke at 33.6

This!  I'm only having twins but my dr said 37 weeks was my goal.  Being this miserable with 2 I can't imagine what it must be like with 3. GL
