Regan for a boy?

I've posted before that Reagan is my all time favorite name right now.. Especially for a girl but we're pretty much sure it's a boy right now (a somewhat convincing sono at 16 weeks) I know Regan is unisex.. do you like it? if so, what would you do for a middle name?

Re: Regan for a boy?

My cousin has a 1 year old son named Regan. It's NMS, but I have seen it used as a boy's name.

    Me neither.

  • I prefer Regan for a girl and spelled that way. It's been a fav name of mine for years, you could always hold on to it incase you have a DD oneday.

  • I think Regan has turned into a girls name in the past few years. I've never met a boy Regan and have known plenty of girls.

I can't, my SIL is  due a week and a half after me and already said she's going to use it if I don't. :-/ It's my all time favorite name so I'll be heart broken. I've heard of Regan for a boy twice. once on Big Brother and someone I knew. haha.

  • I love Reagan for a girl. Not so much for a boy.
  • I only like it for a girl. The two people I know with this name are girls.

  • Its definitely a girls name these days. Name him that if your so bent on it just dont be surprised should there be a little girl in his class with the same name.

I love the name but its far tooo popular, as a girls name, so I will probably use it for a mn.

  • it's really that popular for a girl's name? like popular in general? i've never really heard it honestly.
  • Well, I dont know if this will help you and your question about popularity, but I looked it up by SSN baby names and it was linked up to only being a girl name. I made it search gender specific as a boy name, and there were no results for the last 10 years.

I absolutely love the name, but I think it would be best as a girl.

Sorry she is going to take your name, that is a low blow IMO. :(

  • DD is Regan, and while I don't think I would have considered it a contender if we had a boy, I think it could work for a boy.  I think it should be paired with an ultra-masculine middle name, just to balance it out.
  • I like Regan for a boy! I know right now it is mostly used for the little ladies, but I think it could just as easily become a widely used boy name, too.

  • To me, Reagan is a surname-turned-boy-name that sometimes gets used for girls, as most such names seem to end up being.

Regan, however, is one of the princesses(corrupt older sisters to Cordelia) in King Lear, and tends to be pronounced differently than Reagan, anyways(REE-gan instead of RAY-gan).

  • if you look at all irish name websites and books, reagan/regan (regardless of how you spell it) is a unisex name. :-)
