Pronounced the same as "Colin" for a boy....?

First day of daycare for DS, the teachers were saying that they now had 2 Colins, and when I said, "Really?" they said, "Yes!  Kahlan the girl and Colin the boy..."

 My only thought was UGH.  That is AWFUL.;)

Everyone is right, if parents keep taking boys names and turning them into girl names there will be none left for the boys!

That's just mean. The poor girl will spend her life spelling this name and then saying 'Yes, Colin, like the boy's name'.  People are horrible.

I don't like it pronounced like Colin. I've seen the name before but pronounced like Katelyn (without the T) and I do like it like that.

Kahlan is a main character in Wizards First Rule by Terry Goodkind (and the sequels). I guess there was a series or made-for-TV movie at some point, and that's when I started to notice this name show up once in a great while. I doubt as many people have read the books, but that's just my inner book snob talking.

It's made up, trendy K and I would instinctively pronounce it Kal Ann

Yes, this.  Although there seem to be two main ways to say it among readers.  I read the whole series saying Kuh-LAHN in my head.  While my husband read it CAY-lun.

Hahahah...yes, Osmosis is an amazing thing - I've used that myself and can successfully BS my way through movies I haven't seen.
