How long did it take you to write your birth story?

DS (my CS baby) is a little over 14 months and I JUST was able to finish writing his birth story. I started the night before his birthday and just finished. It has been part of my healing journey to be able to write it candidly, but without ALL my emotions. I don't want DS to be upset one day when he reads it.

I've never really formally written up my birth story.  I have written out the basics in some emails to a midwife I know and my Bradley instructor, and that was kind of therapeutic.

If I were writing it up for my daughter to read, there's a lot I would leave out.  And honestly, I would probably lie (not about what happened but about how I felt).

I left out a lot of the anger. But I put in all my feelings of excitement and disappointment. I also toned down how I felt about getting the epidural. i just said it was the worst part, I didn't say how I was snotting like a 5 yr old, blubbering crying and what a turning point that moment was for me. But yea, I get what you mean.

I actually just wrote it out two days ago on my son's 2nd birthday, never documented anything before that.  It's super long if anybody is interested (like 4 pages!) and it feels like a huge weight off my shoulder.  My doula said I should really try to do it before I forget, plus it makes it easier to move on to the VBAC and this pregnancy.

Mine's pretty short and aih.  I've written it to share with people for VBAC support purposes, but that's about it.  I should at some point, in case DS ever wanted it.  It's not really much, though.

I rote up a ton when DD was little, before all of the emotional issues came up. I typed for forever, then the computer froze, and of course, I hadn't saved. I don't want to write it down now.

for my c/s story, my son was almost 3.  I wrote it in my blog but I don't know that I want him to read it or hear it.  He knows how he was born and he knows how his sister was born, but I don't know that I ever want him to know that his birthday was not a wonderful fabulous happy day for me.

for my VBAC story, I think DD was a week or so old when I typed it out.

I've thought about this too.  I don't want my daughter to know how sucky my labor and birth with her were and feel like she is responsible for that.
