So I have been EBF my daughter. I did the same with my son.
My daughter seems to be allergic to my milk, or something in my milk that I am eating. The pedi put her on hypoallergenic formula for 5 days to see if that helps. She has a severe diaper rash which the dr called a burn on her butt it was so bad.
I have a ton of questions.
1. how do you get the lumps out of the bottle? do I just keep shaking? doesn't that create air in the formula which can cause gas?
2. How much at each feeding?
3. if she does not fall asleep with the bottle, how do I get her to sleep? She is used to nursing to sleep, and a bottle keeps her awake, how do I calm her down and get her to nap/sleep at night?
4. any other advice on formula?
Re: need help please from FF.

yep. shake the hell out of it. when making 8oz of it i put in three scoops and shake before i put in the final scoop.
you can put gas drops directly into the bottle if you're concerned about gas.
if my LO isn't asleep when she finishes she will fall asleep when i burp her.
1. II shake it really well. It almost looks like im doing somthing naughty, lol.
2. He came home from the NICU on 2 ounces. We increase his feeds whenever hes done the bottle and just doesnt seem satisfied. Hes 2 months old and eating 4.5 ounces right now!
3. Luke usually falls asleep while im burping him. Once hes alseep for a bit I move him ever so slowly to his bed.
1. To get the lumps out, shake the bottle hard. This can cause bubbles to form, so let the bottle set if it does. I found similac sensitive to be the bubbliest formula i've ever seen, ironically. I switched to Good Start Gentle Plus and this formula does not bubble at all even with vigorous shaking. And LO tolerates this formula better than Enfamil Lipil and Similac. No more problems with painful gas.
2. At 4 weeks old, think my LO ate 3 oz.
3. I would walk him around to get him to sleep if he didn't fall asleep with the bottle.
4. Don't get discouraged if it takes some time for the baby to get used to the formula. As I said before, i tried enfamil and similac and neither worked for LO. The Good Start finally did the trick. Also, just because a formula says it reduces fussiness and gassiness doesn't mean that it will do this for your child. I switched from regular Enfamil to Similac Sensitive because my LO was so gassy. The Similac made him much worse. Just be observant of your baby and she will tell you what works for her!
Good luck.
