Preemies

preemies and teeth (F/U to starting solids)

When did your preemies start cutting teeth and did it influence with feeding solids??

Re: preemies and teeth (F/U to starting solids)

  • Andrew started teething at around 5 months adjusted. He got his first tooth at 6 months adjusted.

In general when kids are teething, everything tends to be a little more difficult.  So he is a bit resistance to food, bottles, and sleep. It'll pass!

  • Colin had his first tooth cut through on Sunday (exactly at 6 months, 4 months adjusted).  Not sure about feeding solids, we haven't started yet (but we did get the go ahead from the pedi today and might start cereal on Thanksgiving because I think that'd be fun).  His sleep is all wacky though, that's for sure.

  • 7.5 months adjusted- but we had already started on the cereals. I find that when she's cutting teeth she generally wants soft, cold solids but she's still ok to eat.

  • Lily got her first tooth around her first birthday, so 12 months actual and 9 months adjusted. Charlie JUST got his first two teeth at 16 months actual, 13 months adjusted. He was a late bloomer ;) He has the two, and Lily now has about 12! So they both really started eating solids long before they got teeth, but the teeth never really affected them as far as that went.
