Which one do you have and do you like it? Also, do you know if the Thomas Take Along (the metal die cast ones) engines work on the train tables with wooden tracks?
We have several of the Thomas die cast engines that we got as gifts and I'd like to get something that would be compatible with those if possible. thanks for any help.
Re: If you have a train table...
That thing is the bane of my existence. Neither of my kids are remotely interested in the trains, and just stand on the table or use it for other things. Oh, and the 130 piece train set? Gets scattered all over the place.
Sorry. I am a little bitter about the wasted money. :-)

We have this one from TRU:

The kids love it. Circo, Imaginarium, M&D, Brio, and Thomas tracks are all compatible, so I bought some extra Circo tracks on clearance over the summer.
The Take-Along trains do NOT fit on the tracks. I bought some too, so that Nat would have her own, only to find out they don't work. The Thomas and the Thomas Early Engineers all fit the track as well as the brands listed above.
Can I be stupid and ask which ones are the diecast thomas the trains?
We have the ones that go to the plastic tracks, fwiw.
Dicast ones are the metal ones. The Thomas trains we have for our wooden track have wooden bodies. I am not sure which track the dicast work for though.
We have this same one. My kids like it. The love playing "accidents happen" (at Thomas song) where trains crash. It's a hit. HOWEVER, like another poster most of the time the trains and tracks end up scattered everywhere. And *I* am always the one to put it back together. I just wish we had more space for it. It is huge!
R9 - the one you have in your siggy of Toby is diecast....they have gray plastic tracks. The magnet is more square and sticks out. There are also the plastic ones with tan or blue track (motorized trains) - those have white plastic hooks.
This is the type for the wooden tracks:(the magnet is round and more flush)
or the Early Engineers (taller/shorter body)
We bought one that was advertised as PBK off craigslist for $25, but now I think it must be a KidKraft one, just from the look of it. But anyway, it's rather large and very sturdy. It has two drawers at each end, which would be great except they're rather small but low enough to hinder any but very specific sized baskets to go underneath.
Despite all that, we do like ours. It's large enough for TB to have his trains along one side, and ML to have her dollhouses/toys along the other. Both use it all the time. TB doesn't play with his train nearly as much as I thought he would, based on the time he spends playing with other people's trains, but does spend a lot of time using the surface for blocks and such and playing with ML's toys.
