Do any of you gals know anyone who had success with IUI?  My doctor seems to think it is a better option than IVF.  We got pregnant once on our own and miscarried.  We have been seeing a fertility expert. IUI is much cheaper and less invasive, but it also has such a lower success rate than  IVF.  Thoughts?

    We're doing our first IUI this month and it is also the first month that I have been on Clomid.  Depending on your healthcare covereage and what your situation is, (not sure if you have a dx or not), I think it makes sense before jumping to IVF.  The general rule of thumb for my Dr. is to do 3 medicated IUIs before considering IVF if you have no known issues.  I do know a few people who have had success.

    Thanks and good luck to you.  I hope it works.  Our insurance covers nothing, but our fertility center has 100% shared risk -- meaning you pay 20,000 and have unlimited IVFcycles.  IUI is a lot cheaper -- but it will get expensive if we do multiple cycles... plus the success rate is not as high.  I still think we will give it a shot though.

    we're on IUI #2 right now. fwiw... I want to go straight to IVF if this doesn't work b/c of the better sucess rate.
    About me: A pixie in the city, 41, TTC #1 since May 2010, married 18 years. Diagnosed with, surgically removed, endometrioma Aug.2010 Sept 2010 IUI #1=BFN, Oct=cyst/bfn, Nov 2010 IUI #2 = bfn. Had to postpone IUI #3 b/c of a cyst natural=BFN. Skipped IUI #3, decided to go for IVF. Found/removed uterine polyps Jan 2011. IVF cancelled, no follicles. IVF #2: 3 great embies put in on Easter Sunday = BFN. Hoping for another chance at IVF in July. TTC is NOT for wimps. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ticker/2fab90/ttc.png
