Handmade Holiday Check-In (Nov.15-30)

What's everyone working on for the rest of the month?  Any ideas to share?  Hard to believe it's the end of another year and there are only 41 days left to having to have things done for Christmas.

Starting in December we'll move to weekly check-ins so everyone can update their progress and keep an eye on their checklist.  :-)

Re: Handmade Holiday Check-In (Nov.15-30)

  • We have a busy week, but I need to start working on the baby quilts for the two new babies in our families.  Most of my work is waiting until the last minute because they're food gifts.  Sucks not being able to do it ahead of time, but oh well!

  • I only have unpaper towels done for DH so far...and he won't even be home for the holiday!

I just found my paptterns though (and if the babysitter shows up so I can unpack my sewing area) and I'm still slated to make a bear for both kids.  There's a pair of longies on my needles for DD.  For DS a pair of pj's and some play food are still in the works.  Plus, he recently picked out fabric for his own napkins so I'm going to do a utensil holder and matching napkin set for him for when we're out and about in addition napkins for the house.  I now need to make something for my mom since she'll be here.  I'm thinking I might just knit her a scarf and make her some cranberry relish to take home with her if this first batch is as good as it smelled.  For DH's family they're just getting giftcards so no worries on their part.  DH needs a couple pairs of pj pants that fit but they'll have to wait until he gets home so they can be custom fit since he's been cranky about the store ones.  I don't know what else for him.

  • I don't think I've really checked in before, but...

I'm working on several knitted ornaments for this Xmas.  Link for those with Ravelry.  Nothing huge, but I am about 1/2 way done making the tree pieces (I need 14 total, for 7 ornaments).

I'm also thinking of doing some HCOAS for people.  Haven't started that process, but curious where people bought the chocolate for it - did you use the meltable candy-making chocolate that the one site suggested?

  • I'm going to join if that's ok...

I've got to cut fabric to top my jam jars
cut the rest of the squares for DD's quilt
    finish hat #1
    knit hat #2

What I'll get done this month (hopefully): fabric for jam jars, hat #1 and cut squares.

  • Some more ideas to throw out there for those looking for some:

    Felt Finger Puppets

    Fabric Checkers

    Sleepover Tent

  • I'm finishing up: a pair of Solana pants for Korra & a Kyoko blouse for Korra.

I'm knitting on DH's socks (could probably finish these if I broke down & bought the 9" circs the LYS got in yesterday), & some ornaments.

Would like to start & finish: a Kyoko for Korra's doll, Nightgowns for Korra & her doll, ties for both boys, a pair of grey cords for Saxton & a pair of Dortje grey cords for Xavian, and knit a cape & dress for Korra's doll.

  • 9" circs, Jenni?!  Yikes.  I don't think those would be very comfortable to knit with.

I'm about half done with a knitted outfit for my niece's American Girl doll, almost done with my sister's owl sweater, and not even started with the fingerless mittens for my other niece.  I think I will have everything done if I do nothing else for the next few weeks, but I'm freaking out that there are only 41 days!!  Hannukah is even closer, but I'm not doing anything handmade for it except stuff from Etsy.

My mother also requested 2 knitted projects (after I had committed to the above!), but I may make those for her birthday in Feb instead.  We'll see.
