We were licensed on November 1st yay!
Last Monday we got a call for a 2 week old infant, no known health issues. We said yes but it fell though. The social worker wanted it to go to another specific home due to location and that this foster-mom has worked with this social worker and family before. I was crushed since they told me they were bringing the baby in an hour and then called back 15 mins later to "cancel".
I got through it and maintained hope that we would get another call soon.
Last night at 1am we got another call. this time for a 4 year old girl. We have a 4 year old DD as well and although we preferred a baby after hearing the details we decided to give it a shot. after learning our address, this placement quickly became failed match #2.
This time it was mutually agreed upon that it would not work. The child was being apprehended from down the street from a family member. This family member is uncooperative and a crack/cocaine addict. Very unpredictable person and we decided that for this little girl and our little girl's safety it just was too risky.
Again we are a bit sad that we did not have a placement work out yet, but we know it is for the better. We are feeling pretty confident we will have a placement before Christmas. The after-hours worker last night said (unfortunately) she has been apprehending all weekend. We have gotten 2 calls in 2 weeks and we know there will be more. DH thinks Christmas will be a busy season due to the stress it can cause families, but who knows?
Thanks for reading and hope everyone else is doing well!

That's exciting to hear you're getting phone calls. Hopefully you'll get a placement that's a good fit for you!
We had several failed placements in between our last two placements. Remember to think with your "head" not your "heart when accepting placements. Which is sounds like you're doing, keep up the good work. Look forward to hearing that you've received a placement!
