Re: What do you bring for lunch

  • I'm right there with you!!  Lately I've been trying to bring cheese and crackers and some sort of fruit (usually apples for me).  I also usually grab a yogurt and some sort of treat (Reeses!!!) so that I have something to look forward to!!!  You could also make a big batch of pasta salad over the weekend and then take that every day.  I've done that a few times. Hope this helps!

  • I just fell in love with my slow cooker and i've gotten into the habit of making something overnight so i can pack it for me and my fiancee for the next days lunch.  I've always hated taking frozen food to work so it works out.  And it's usually healthy... some sort of meat with veggies and a baked potato.  Also i always pack one fruit (typically an apple or banana) and a huge bottle of water.  If i start feeling antsy about lunch or just get plain lazy then i'll opt for subway... sometimes the soup-to-go.  Ever since making food in the ccrock pot, though, fast food has become pretty tasteless.  If i'm super lazy i pack 4 containers of yogurt and call it a day.
  • Well the last 2 weeks I was really bad, and ate out like everyday... but that gets expensive... so today I brought in mayo and mustard for the work fridge, and I brought all the stuff to make a sandwich, a small bag of chips, a rice pudding for dessert, and one can of pineapple (in 100% juice).. I can eat half of it during first break, after my walk, and the other half during the afternoon break :) to drink.... water

  • I eat 2 low-fat nutrigrain eggos w/ a tbsp of PB for breakfast, and then have a mug of decaf tea.

I'll bring with me for lunch:

baggie of frosted mini wheats, grapes, unsweetened applesauce, PB Sandwich, and an apple.

the mini wheats or grapes are a mid-morning snack. I usually end of with one or 2 of the items leftover at the end of work (230pm)

  • Well, since my midwife told me last week that my iron is a little on the low side, I've been trying to choke down spinich and walnut salad for lunch.  Today I abandoned it about halfway through for cafe food and a KitKat bar...

  • Well, I used to be the queen of the frozen meals for lunch. But after my mother told me how much weight she gained and how puffy/swollen she got later in her pregnancy because of too much sodium I've sworn them off from here on out. I looked at canned soups but even the low sodium ones have more sodium than I thought so I'm making myself either a chicken salad or a turkey sandwich every day. I will also sometimes make a salad with baby spinach, tomatoes and cucumbers with some crumbled blue cheese.

Snacks: apple, banana, yogurt (Activia) and a pudding cup.

I find I'm getting hungrier, though, so I really need to start packing more food. It is tiring planning it all out though but I try because it's better than making a mid-afternoon run to the Au Bon Pain for a pastry.

  • ppj's ... although i have been alternating between that and soup... good luck :-)
  • I go to Trader Joe's every monday at lunch and buy lunch food for the week. They have some good frozen meals that are low fat, organic and not horrible on the sodium scale. I keep those here along with apples, peanut butter, whole grain crackers, and of course some TJ's Joe Joes (oreo knockoffs with the bad stuff). Today I had french onion soup and a honeycrisp apple.
  • I try to switch it up. My fave is leftovers from meals i've made, but I do PB&J a lot, and also low-sodium soups with triscuits.  I bring a lot of snacks to get me through the day too- cereal, fruits, veggies, yogurt and chocolate (especially since halloween!)

  • Today I brought chicken salad on a multi-grain English muffin, an apple, a granola bar, jello with mixed fruit in it, and a string cheese. That's a pretty typical day for me as far as lunch/snacks for work. I'm trying to eat smaller meals throughout the day.

  • A yummy lite caesar salad, a honeycrisp apple, a banana, a yogurt, baby carrots and a couple pieces of riesen candy. This isn't at one sitting, but throughout the day.
