All injectable IUI protocol??

Has anyone done this? I know there are a MILLION different possibilities -- I am waiting for a response from my nurse.

I am just curious as to what your protocol was for IUI's.

My RE switched me to an all injectable protocol for our finaly IUI in December and my nurse clairified that I wont be on the same meds should we go the IVF route that I will be on different meds, which is what I thought. I am just trying to see how much this is going to cost come time.

TIA!

Re: All injectable IUI protocol??

  • I just did follistim and ovidrel on my injects IUI.  The next one (that got cancelled) was going to be follistim, menopur and ovidrel.  We decided to go IVF instead.

  • I'm not sure this is what you're asking, but Follistim + trigger is all I'm using for this IUI, with progesterone supps to follow.

I've been on Follistim for 11 days, the first 4 days at 150iu, then the next 4 at 225iu, and the last 3 back at 150iu.

    Good luck!

  • My last IUI I took Follistim only, low dose like 75 iu/day.  My RE tried to do a Clomid/Follistim combo, but my body flipped out on 100mg CC.  GL!

  • I did an IUI injectable cycle, with 175IU follistim + ovidrel shot. I think I stimmed for 8 days and ended up with 4 follies.

Follistim is uber-expensive OOP. It runs about $1.50/IU. So, 175IU costs $262.50.

  • I did a follistim+ovidrel injectable IUI.  I think I was on follistim for 6 days, at 150iu for the first 5 and 75iu for day 6.  I had 5 follicles, so probably too many but I got a BFN anyway.

  • I just triggered last night for our all injectable IUI after stimming for 8 days.  I  have been on Follistim (varying dosages from 75 - 150 iu), Menopur (varying dosages from 1 to 2 powders), Ganarelix (for only 3 days to suppress ovulation) and then I triggered last night with Ovidrel.

We're OOP for the meds and I paid $250 for 300iu of Follistim.  Also there is a coupon the pharmacy used for a free 300iu of Follistim.  Menopur was $340 for each box of 5 vials.  Ovidrel was $50 and I'd have to look up the price of the Ganarelix when I get home tonight.

  • For our IUI we did Follistim pen 100 for 4 days, then 50 for two days and then 25 for 2 day followed by Ovidrel trigger, progesterone supps after the   b2b IUI.  I think that the meds were like $450.  I had some insurance coverage, but also med insurance deductible.
  • Thanks for all your help!!

Nurse said I'll find out total when pharmacy calls me.
