5 yo DS what are you getting for christmas?

I've been at a loss with my DS. He is really into spiderman and we bought him the Imaginext batman house. He played w it when he first got it. But I find he's always saying he's bored. He's got a huge playroom. He always wants to play games on Nickjr site. But I don't want to buy him any video games b/c Im afraid thats all he will want to do. He loves to draw and color.

I wish I could just find something he was really into and would enjoy. Any ideas from moms of boys this age.

    We're getting our son the VReader - it's video game like but helps with reading, letter sounds, etc.  Legos are also a staple for us

    My son is 6 and we are going to get him that Tag system where it helps him to read.

    DS has a leapster, so he's getting a new leapster game.  He has a tag reader as well, so a new tag book too.  He really doesn't play wiith any of them too much, though.  He would love a Nintendo DS, but I'm not ready to get that for him yet.  I bought him a Crayola lap desk for coloring in he car (we're planning a long car trip).  We're planning on getting a wii for the whole family this year too. Legos are pretty popular with 5+ y/o boys too.

    My son is very simlar to yours.

    So far he's getting a Nerf Gun, a dig your own dinosaur game, and a spy kit (it has night vision goggles, a special watch, etc).  And this https://fatbraintoys.com/toy_companies/garageco_toys/yo_baby_kick_flipper.cfm b/c he really wants a skateboard, but we don't think he'd get a ton of use out a real skateboard as he's a little young for that.   I suggest looking at that website, as they have a lot of great unique toys.

    He also loves leggos.   DH wants to also maybe get him some slot cars as he thinks he would really enjoy that.

    My son's big gift is going to be a razor scooter this year.  

    What about a "coupon" for a special outing with Mom and Dad?  My SIL did this for my DD when she was 6: she got a day at the aquarium, lunch out, and her choice of items from the aquarium gift shop. My DD absolutely LOVED this gift! 

    High School English teacher and mom of 2 kids:

    Those are all such great ideas ladies!! The day out sounds soo cute too! He has the tag system and LOVES it so I could add to his collection.
