Cloth Wipes

I am going to make my own cloth wipes but am not sure what to put on the opposite side of the flannel.  What do you use?

I used terry.  You can cut up an old towel.

I used terry.  You can also pick it up by the yard at Joann's.  I've heard others use flannel on both sides.  I was considering looking into cotton velour, but haven't found any in the stores.  I'm afraid polyester velour would just smear stuff.

Has anyone bought or made wipes using chenille?  I like the look but not if it's going to be a waste of money.

I use flannel on both sides. Although I just got some terry out of the remnants bin at Joann's, so I'm looking forward to trying that out, too.
