Garrison has had a runny nose off and on for over 3 weeks now. It has never turned into anything and she has been acting completely normal so I am thinking it is from teething.
Today on our way to a playground she started this cough-- it seemed totally out of place and we both thought she probably swallowed wrong or something and it would go away when she got out of the car seat and ran around. It did. We played for over an hour-- not a single cough, she was super happy (did have a bit of a clear runny nose though).
We get back in the car and the cough starts again, and now she is down for a nap and coughing off and on. It sounds slightly "wet" (it's not a raspy dry cough anyway) but otherwise doesn't seem to be causing her any problems. Could this be due to teething?
Either way, do you have any suggestions for remedies? I think all the cold medicines for toddlers are gone, right? We have a cool mist humidifier that has been running in her room for over a week (we cleaned it out before using it so I don't *think* it is due to bacteria from it....)
Ugh, hope she isn't sick. We have been so lucky with only brief illness (<12 hours) after shots, I would like to keep the streak alive.
Re: Can teething cause coughing?
I am a firm believer that teething can cause all sorts of un-pleasantness! for many different reasons, so coughing would not be out of the questions. Our pedi is a bit old school, and lets us give them a tablespoon of honey for coughs after they turn one, but other than that, a humidifier is about it.
Poor girl!
