Ok so I just found out that I am having another girl! So now the name search begins. We are a family of 'K' names so obviously this one needs a baby girl K name too. My daughter's name is Karlie (after my husband Karl) so this time I wanted to name one after me without being as obvious as Karl/Karlie.
The name I have come up with is "Kenniston". It's a combination of my first and maiden name (sort of)....Kerri Stone....I changed the r's to n's and dropped the e off of stone. I want a cute trendy but very unique name. My husband thinks we should go with "Kherrington" but I just think it is too similar to my name and might get shorten to being exactly my name.
Please tell me your honest advice!!! I'm at a loss!
Thanks!
Re: Is this name stupid?
It sounds made up. Sorry.
Kirston or Kirsten would work better, but even those are not really my favorites, but I like ``snotty`` sounding names apperantly.
Kenni would bother me but Kenna I wouldn't mind. I don't like the spelling of Kenniston with an 'a' instead of an 'i' though.
Oh dear.
I think one 'creative' name per family is quite enough.
Please don't hurt yourself by trying to smoosh your dog's name and his mothers' name- it's never a good idea, no matter the reason.
Oh, I really, really, really dislike Kenniston. I mean, I can't even express it.
How about Kiersten or Kirsten? Karina? Karolina? Karissa? Karmela? Karine?

I like Kerrington more than Kenniston- and I prefer it without the extra 'h' after the K. What about something a little more traditional sounding- the 'K' or "Kerri-" spelling could add the extra unexpected/unique quality? Like Karoline/Karolyn/Karolina/Kerrilyn, Kara, Kerryn, Kerrigan, etc. Or, you could have Kara- or Keri- paired with different endings, like Keribella, etc. Or- the name Carys- but somehow spelled more like Kerri. The 's' ending sort of brings in the Stone portion?
None of these are really my style so I'm sorry if they are way out there- just trying to offer some variations on the theme!!
yeah...don't make up a name for your daughter. Unless you're like, fifteen, no one is going to think it is cool (and if you're fifteen, the only people who think its cool are also people that shouldn't be making decisions like that).
Pick a legitimate "K" name. Please?
Don't love it.
I have two students this year named Kenna and McKenna. What about those?
We are in the same boat with all of the names starting with the same sound.
This board is very traditional, so you aren't going to find much help with made up and unique names. I am not a fan of Kenniston. It sounds masculine to me. Why the extra H is Kherrington? Just wondering why its not Kerrington?
I dont think you need a child named after you just because you have a Karlie. When I think of cute and trendy, I think Kinley, Kenley, or Kennedy...What about Karoline, Keira, Kirsten, Kendall or Kelsey? Those arent but are nice names. If you feel like you have to keep the Kerr- Why not Kerra or Kerrigan? I have heard those names before. I have also seen Kerryn. Good luck!
To answer your question, yes both names are stupid.
There are a lot of names that start with K that are quite lovely. I think you should pick one of those instead fo trying to invent your own name.
yes, I totally thought this too! I also thought the yeast infection med Canneston. I know that you like the K thing, but I think that one creative K name is enough for a family. If you use Carrington, spell it with a C.
Those are both awful. Please don't do that to your child. (btw, DH says that Kherrington looks like it's a combination of Afghani (think Kharzai) and poor American English.)
Although I hate seeing traditional C names spelled with a K, but since your name is Kerri, why not something like Karissa?
Not a fan.
Also, I come from a family of all As. Its SUPER annoying now that we are older. Everyone gets confused. Please don't do that to your kids.

What is your middle name? My name is Kerri too and my mn is Lynn. I love Kelyn for a girl, I think it's a great name and it uses both of mine.
I don't like Kenniston, I'm sorry. I do know a Kerryn, though I would spell it Keryn. Of other suggestions, I think Kerrigan would work well too.
GL!
I've heard Kerrington before.. maybe on a soap opera? I think it was a last name, now that I think of it.
I don't care for either of your name choices, but I don't really have suggestions, as I don't like the "try to smush 2 names together" trend.
Agreed. Sorry.
This is what I thought too.
sorry- i hate them both.
I really like the suggestion of Kirsten and think it does the whole kerri stone transition nicely. But I may be the wrong one to ask b/c I also think the whole Karl/Karlie, Kerri/Ker... thing is kind of cheesy.
