What is the earliest you have EVER put up a Christmas tree?

I know its nuts but I really want to put up a tree and decorate my house NOW!  Im going to start on getting all of the decorations out of storage and here, go through them and then start putting outside stuff up.  I will then do inside.  By then it will be Thanksgiving.  I think the Monday after Tgiving Im going to try and talk dh into going to the tree farm!

If I do go to the tree farm and get one when I want it will be the earliest I have ever put one up.  Last year it was about 2wks before Christmas and I almost said "screw it'.  So not in the Christmas spirit last year like I am this year.  Growing up we never put ours up until about 3wks before Christmas at the earliest because we got real and were afraid it would dry out.

I just read online that certain kids of trees like the Arizona and Leyland Cypress can be bought/put up as early as Nov. 10th and make it well past Christmas. The Firs can be put up as early as Nov. 27th.

So now Im trying to decide which kind I like best.

Re: What is the earliest you have EVER put up a Christmas tree?

  • We usually put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving - which I know isn't super early.  We do a fake tree, so we don't have to worry about it drying out.  I want to put it up sooner this year because I am having child #2 and my c-section is scheduled for 11/22.  That way it will be up and done and I will not have to worry about the tree while recovering/taking care of 2 kids!
  • We put ours up the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We usually cut our own Fraiser Fur. I get so excited to put it up. But honestly by Christmas I am really sick of it, so it usually doesn't make it to New Years.

  • I think we actually did it T-day one year and a week before Christmas, we were so done with it.  MH is usually the Christmas guy, and even he was taking down the decorations on Christmas Day night.

  • The earliest ever was the day after T day. We get a 12 foot fraiser and I am so sick of it come xmas the later I put it up the better.

  • My mom always put ours up the weekend after my b-day (to not have it taking away from my day), which is 12/2.  When I moved out and had an artificial one, I always did it T'giving weekend.

Due to an unfortunate collision between Ben and the tree 3 yrs ago, we get a real one now, and usually put it up between the 5th-10th of Dec.

  • We usually do the day after thanksgiving.

We are going to have 2 trees this year. One in DD's playroom in the front of the house. We will put that one up the day after thanksgiving. We are going to Texas for a wedding the beginning of Dec. and will get a real tree for our living room when we get back.

  • I put mine up today. That's a record for me but we're going to be out of town the next two weeks and my parents are keeping ds this weekend so it was the perfect time for me to get it done without him underfoot. I'm nesting and enjoying the glow from it right now.

  • Today.

I came home from shopping and MH had put the tree up.   It's up to me to decorate it.  He pulled it downstairs from the attic for me because it's big as helll and I could never do it alone.  I wanted to go ahead and get it up and decorated BEFORE Thanksgiving this year because we're going out of state for Thanksgiving this year and I don't want to have to do it once we get back home.  So, I'll have it all done and decorated and then we can pack and leave for Thanksgiving and come home to a Christmas ready home!
