Girls names

Girls names are so hard for me! Okay, so I'm looking for sweet sounding girls names that would go with Lily. The hard part is I love names like Leah and Holly, but since my name ends in -ly I feel like that's too much. (Not to mention, I really don't want to go overboard with L names.) Any suggestions?

Re: Girls names

  • I don't think you could go overboard with -ly names. I think you could go overboard with having everyone named L-names. However, I do happen to prefer certain-lettered names over others. And I think Leah and Lily would make a great sib-set. It isn't like you're naming them Keely and Kailey! (Eeek!)

  • Suggestions from Baby Name Wizard:

Lily - Sophie, Ava, Isabel, Faith, Ivy

Leah - Rachel, Molly, Sarah, Joanne, Katie

Holly - April, Tara, Robin, Laurel

Since Lily and Holly are both flowers, maybe something like Rose, Violet, Heather, or Linnea?

  • This is good to hear, at least that can still keep them in the running. :)

  • I've thought about Violet. Lily was almost Violet. It's not too over the top, though, to have that theme? She was almost Isabel, too. Love Molly, but it's my cousin's name, and I start to worry when it's a family name (that's not in my ancestry). I'm such a worrier, and my DH always tells me to relax about names and just put the ones on the list that I like, but then I always think of reasons to cross them off. This is helping, though. Thanks! :)

  • I love L names as well.  I love Lily, Leah, Lena, Lydia and of course Lilah.

  • so you already have a daughter Lily? Then why is the Ly in Holly so bad with your last name?
  • I know, I just can't help but like L names. I just was always one of those people (before I was ever married) who thought it was bad to use one letter for all of their children. Guess I was supposed to learn that lesson the hard way.

I love Leah, Lilah, Luna, Lexi, Layla, Lorena, Lorraine in addition to Lily. Why? Why must I love so many L names? Lol. It makes choosing a name hard. Do I go with what I love? Or do I go with what I think might work better?

  • Actually I meant my first name has Ly. So just hearing the sound "lee" in my name, my daughter's name and potentially more children, I'm just wondering if that is too much.
