Ok, I'm going back here but DS is starting baby food this weekend and I make my own and was going to start with broccoli but wholesome baby food says 8 months for broccoli. Any idea why?
Also when you started how much did you give and how many times a day etc?

Re: How did you start purees?
I honestly don't know why they say to hold off on broccoli.
That being said, we started with peas & green beans & apples & oatmeal.
We did oatmeal mixed with fruit 3x a day for reflux, but started doing a veggie puree for "lunch" or "dinner." Then we added it to a second meal around 8ish months.
Good luck!
They say to hold off on broccoli till a little later because it tends to be a "gassier" veggie... thus, your wee little babe is more likely to get some bad gas from it and apparently will tolerate it better at a later age.
We started with some sweeter, root veggies, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash and then moved on to bananas, pears, apples.
I think broccoli is gassy... so it can be difficult to process in their young tummies.
We started with rice cereal one per day for a couple of weeks, then I add a fruit at lunch for a week and then veggies at dinner.
