Relatives are asking what to get Sydney for Christmas and I have no clue. She's got a ton of hand me down clothes, and a few toys (rattles and teething stuff). Her room is pretty much all set up, and we got everything we need off the registry, so I'm not sure what to ask for.
So far I have books. She has a few, but could always use more. And a "year" frame with monthly pictures.
Anything else? If I don't try to make a list, they will probably get clothes or something she won't need and I don't want them to waste their money.
Re: What will baby need / use / play with the first year?
i would get a jumperoo/exersaucer, one of those, if you have room, i'd get both!! a swing, one of those vibrating/bouncy chairs too. and an activity table.
those things above were a life saver for me!
other than that, definitely some baby books, ds LOVES books. but i'd stick with the thick cardboard kind or some kind of sturdy book.
basically anything that plays music ds loves.
I would ask for books, and maybe give family members authors to buy. Sounds silly, but otherwise you may get 15 copies of Goodnight Moon! In my family, my MIL is getting Winnie the Pooh books (she specifically asked to get those), my mom is getting Eric Carle and DH's aunt is getting Doctor Seuss. I would also ask for toys that are appropriate up to one year, since she'll likely get more toys then.
Practical items could include feeding things like bowls, spoons, forks, sippy cups, bibs, etc. Also, diapers, wipes, formula, etc.
Or, you could say something like "You are welcome to get her toys or books, but if you'd prefer to donate to her college fund that would be greatly appreciated as well." Someone may have a better way to word it, but you get the idea!
Yes, I did think about that since we are setting one up, but didn't know how to word it.
We already have swing, boucy seat and exersaucer. Thanks for the suggestions.
