I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and we still don't have names!! This is just one of many options.
I am not usually a fan of alternative spellings but in this case I think the Emilie spelling looks more modern and less 1980s. Or do you think it looks contrived and overly complicated?

Yes, it looks contrived. I would stick with Emily. Emily Dickinson and Emily Bronte were not 1980s.
In addition, when I first looked at Emilie, I was tempted to say Emilia outloud.
If you're French or going for the French version, Emilie.
Otherwise, stick with Emily.
