I feel slightly awful/lazy

I see all of these posts about organized moms who have done so much to the nursery or have purchased (or are at least researching) a ton of things for LO.

We have:

- Painted the nursery

- Been purchasing books pretty regularly

Since this is our first, I imagined that I'd have at least done something more than we have by this point. It's not that we're not excited - we are so happy. 

What gives? No nesting feelings yet, no insane need to plan/prepare... 

We've basically done nothing.  Anyone else?

I have bought some wipes because I had a coupon. We did finally pick out a bedding set. Im in your boat. I would like to do more, but somehow time is flying by!!

Other than furniture, I plan to buy nothing until after the shower.  And I have done nothing to the "nursery" it is currently still our office.  I am waiting until after the holidays because this room is still very needed.  Baby won't be here for several months.  Don't fret!

Meh... you're fine   It took me a while and then things just started happening with DD, it'll eventually all get done.  Don't expect the feeling to go away anytime soon though, my feeling only got stronger until it was a couple months out and I was badgering DH to get things done now now now!  I'm a little more chill with #2, but ONLY because I have everything I need for the most part. whew!! It's fun though, enjoy it

ummm..that's more than we've done!  We are going to be moving a couple of months after LO comes so I'm not getting a nursery put together (mostly because we don't have the room!).  I feel like a bad mother, but we're mostly waiting until after Christmas and baby showers to see what we get and then we'll fill in the rest later on.  You've still got time, though! No worries!

If you're asking this question at 16 weeks, I'm guessing you're an overachiever. Chill out! Have you even found out the sex yet?

If you knock it all out early, you might have to fight "not having enough to do" later. I've bought the diaper bag. And that's it. Relaaaaaaaax.

Totally hit the nail on the head. I'm an overachiever with everything, though you wouldn't believe it if you saw how much laundry I haven't done lately... 

We find out baby's sex in about 2 weeks. I'm thinking I'll probably start wanting to get things done at that point. Right now I'm in limbo because I have no idea who's been bouncing around in there yet.

I did absolutely nothing until I found out we're havin g a girl..... since then I've been going a little crazy buying NB-3M clothes at sales and consignment stores, so clothing is covered. Don't worry you have plenty of time and it's so much funner to shop once you know what you're having!

well you're ahead of/tied with me on what's done and I'm going to be 32 weeks pg on Sunday. lol... you're fine... really. I promise.

 I, on the other hand, am royally f-ed if I don't go into hyper-speed soon!

You are only 16 weeks - you've got loads of time ;-)

I did none of that stuff until well after 30 weeks last time - I hadn't even cleared out the room for kiddo until then.

me too, i have bought bedding, diaper bag , and crib and got some clothes.  but i'm also an overachiever but pregnancy has put a damper on that.  i have to eat 6 meals a day, dang excessive hunger, and that takes a lot of time out of my day, so i look at stuff online.  i have not even registered yet and feel so unprepared

So far we have managed to empty the room that we are using as the nursery...it is the colour we want already, so no need to paint.  All it has in it is a crib (we got it early b/c it was on a really good sale) and then the stuff I am stock-piling from friends, etc.

I don't plan to do much buying of stuff until after my shower so right now I am trying to concentrate on getting other areas of the house in order and things done that I have wanted done before the baby comes.

You have LOTS of time...don;t do everything now because there will be nothing left near the end and you'll wish you'd saved things to do when you are in crazy nesting mode!

I have literally done nothing yet to prepare for the inside baby. Well actually we just picked a name in case we have a girl. (DS didn't have a name for over a day after he was born)

I don't need to buy too much though. The big project is the room. SD and DS are switching rooms so the babies can share the bigger of the two rooms, it will be like a 4 day project. We need another crib and I am going to buy one pink outfit and one blue outfit for the hospital.

Eesh!  Don't feel bad you are further ahead in the prep game that I am! I'm now in the third trimester and our nursery is not only NOT yet painted, it's full of rest-of-the-house-stuff because we are wrapping up a remodel.  I have a butt-load of handmedown stuff to go through, sort and wash (very grateful for those! I love that all my friends have kids just a little older than what mine will be!).  I'm hoping the nesting instinct kicks in soon too!

Don't worry at all!  You're only 16 weeks.  You have plenty of time.  We still haven't finished cleaning all of my DH's stuff out of the baby's room. We still have to paint, we finally just registered for our shower and we have NOTHING yet, besides a few outfits.  Once you find out what you're having you'll start feeling slightly more motivated, but even if you don't, that's okay, too.  We're waiting to buy stuff until after the shower, because we don't want to have duplicates of anything.  I wouldn't start worrying about that until you hit 3rd trimester   Good luck!

All I've done is read.

Waiting for the holidays to be over and for that mythical second tri energy to kick in.

Nursery still has to be cleared out and painted. Nothing is purchased. Etc.

I warned DH that I would freak out about lack of progress on the room at some point, and it happened a few weeks ago. But we were planning to have time while the baby was still sleeping in our room.

Once we found out we were having twins, and then simultaneously found out about suspected problems, it really put me in hyperdrive to figure things out. Suddenly I need to buy a bunch of new unexpected gear, we need to buy a car we can all fit in, etc - and my "due date" is now 2 weeks earlier than it was. Plus, I keep hearing stories of twin moms put on bedrest as early as 20 weeks.

My poor DH - he knows it's futile to fight my nesting urge. But at least if we do things now, I can still help. It's better than if I were on bedrest and he was wrangling a toddler AND trying to paint a room!

My husband and I are Jewish, and we're following the tradition of not preparing for the baby until the baby comes. Which means, no setting up or decorating the nursery and no shopping for anything (if I do buy anything, it cannot come into our house, I have to take it over to my IL's or a friend's house to store until the baby comes). We can't even have the baby shower until the baby has arrived!  So, don't feel bad.  I'm just kicking back and working on growing my little bean.  When I'm in the hospital after giving birth, my poor husband will be frantically trying to set things up at home.

This!  Only I haven't even boughten furniture yet, I have a stroller and a car seat.  That's it.
