No induction date scheduled??

It seems to me like everyone having twins(or more) has a induction date scheduled..for either a c sec or to be induced. My doctor just says oh well when you go into labor we will give you a ultrasound and if the babies are head down then you can try to have them natural if not then we will just do a c sec. Is anybody elses doctor like this? I thought something was suppose to be scheduled or something, the only thing they have told me is that they will induce around the end of December if i dont go into labor before that, but nothing formal.

Re: No induction date scheduled??

  • My case is probably different in that I had been in and out of PTL since 22w1d.  However, my OB did not schedule a c-section until my 35w6d appointment, when she scheduled me for 37w0d.  My LOs were breech (A) and transverse (B) and had been so for two months, so we knew I would have to have a c-section.  I didn't make it to 37w though -- we had the babies at 36w0d.
After 20 months TTC with PCOS, we were blessed with twins!

  • I'm a few months behind you, but my doctor said they won't talk induction/c-section timing or dates until I am 36 weeks. Then we can decide (with the information we have available then) whether to schedule an induction or a c-section. I do know my hospital will not allow an elective twin induction or c-section to be schedule before 38 weeks exactly. If there are medical issues that necessitate an earlier delivery it would of course be different.

  • We didn't have anything formal until I was 34 weeks and we then scheduled my csection - which ended up being moved to a week earlier anyway.  We had an informal timeline that he used that he wouldn't let me go beyond, but he felt that I was never going to make that date anyway so he never scheduled anything.

  • My dr wasn't scheduling one; I think it was at 35w that I asked him for an induction date and so we agreed on one (37w6d). The last month was ROUGH and I just needed a deadline, something to focus on.

This. they wouldn't even talk about it until 34 weeks (drove me crazy!) but when E went into labor at 36w5d and baby e was still breech, so we went c-sec.

  • I was 36wks when my doctor scheduled my c-sec. it was scheduled for  august 11th. My water broke august 10th. so i went in for an emergency c-section. but i was 37 weeks preg. when i had my babies. my doctor wouldnt even begin talking about it until i turned 36 weeks, so just wait. :)

  • I had the option of scheduling a section if I wanted, because one of my babies was breech, but I didn't want one, and wanted to see if she would flip.  She did, so I scheduled an induction at my 37 week appt.  It was at my request - they said I could go past 38 weeks if I wanted since everything looked good, but I couldn't stand it anymore and I was almost 4cm at that point, so I asked them to schedule me in case I didn't go on my own.
  • my dr didn't schedule anything until less than a week before my c/s.  i had my appointment on a tuesday and i was scheduled for the following monday.

FWIW, they wouldn't do an induction, only a c/s at 38 (ish) weeks.

proof that i make babies. jack, grace, and ben, in no particular order
