Hi ladies,
I'm 22 weeks and at my 18 week u/s they noticed that baby's kidneys were slightly dilated/fluid collecting in his kidneys. Normal is 5, his were around 7. The theory was that it could just be hormonal and in a month maybe the levels will be normal or else stay slightly elevated. We went for a Level II u/s today with specialists and the fluid in his left kidney has doubled to 15. The right one is where it was, around 7-8. There is nothing to do but wait and see--he may need surgery once he is born so that his kidneys drain properly and in the meantime I'm praying that his right kidney stays how it is and doesn't get any worse... anyone else with this going on? Apparently it's more common in boys than with girls.
Last time around I had pregnancy-induced hypertension and was on bedrest and she had choroid plexus cysts on her brain that went away by 28 weeks. I've been lucky in that both times it hasn't been anything super high-risk but enough to cause concern, but I've been feeling so much better this time than I did last pregnancy that I really had thought everything would be fine when we went today.
