Baby Names

Have a new (nonexistant fantasy) girl name!

We aren't even considering TTC#2... like, my Mirena will probably "expire" first, and I got it after Bean was born.

Bean's name is Charles Stewart; his "girl name" was Harper Morgan, but Harper has become so very popular, and while I still love it, I'm afraid that it's too popular for my tastes now (also, one of my close friends has a baby girl named Harper.  I rarely see her, but, still).

But I've decided that I love love love  the name Loretta.

Loretta Morgan.  It sounds like a song!

  • I like it! I have to agree with you that Loretta sounds lyrical and melodic; I think it's a fun, energetic, unique name, and Loretta and Charles make a cute sibset--much better than Charles and Harper (though I adore Harper), which seems a little "ar" heavy.

    Great choice!

  • Love Loretta a thousand times more than Harper, especially with brother Charles.

  • Love Loretta Morgan...much, much (and much) better. And Loretta and Charles are both 7 letters long which makes the name nerd in my super happy.

Eh... unisex has never been an issue for me.  I'm actually one of those people that likes traditionally male names & last names on girls.

  • I really like Loretta Morgan too. Harper not so much.
  • I like Loretta. One of my best friends named her daughter Lyric, just a suggestions. The dads name is Elric, maybe that why :)
  • Harper was what DS would have been named if he was a girl, but I feel the same way you do about it now.  I like Loretta, but it seems a little country to me.  Probably because of Loretta Lynn and also because my grandma's very country family has some Lorettas in it.  Etta is a cute nn, though.

It's funny... Loretta Lynn was the inspiration!  I love how unapologetic, kind, and honest she is.  I have no problem with country roots.  I'm a city girl, but I love the country, too. Originally, DS's girl name was Ella Rae (after my great-grandparents), but my DH thought it was waaaay too country!
