super dumb baking question

M's little playdate brought over bake and break sugar cookies. i have tons of different kinds of sprinkles but ... do you put the sprinkles on before you bake or after they come out of the oven? thank you!

def. before or else they won't stick unless you plan on frosting the cookies and then use sprinkles.

thank you both! that's what i presumed but I've made many wrong presumptions when it comes to baking.
