Help! Need opinions...

If we have a girl, my husband is insisting on the middle name being "Carerra" because he likes that car.  He thinks that something like 'Ashley Carerra' sounds awesome.  I think it sounds kind of slutty.  I'm wondering what other folks think?

Re: Help! Need opinions...

  • ... that's the trashiest name I've ever heard. Ashley. Carerra. Wow. O_O

(For comparison, I know a trashy family whose daughter is name Camrie - pronounced like Camry... apparently having it written on a CAR didn't make it easy enough to spell right... not that it would be a good name even if it was spelled right. Lordy...)

Maybe you could talk him into a similar name... Carmela... Camila... Cara... I dunno.

  • If you don't like the name, you shouldn't use it! C'mon, you both have veto power. And this is a case where you should really, REALLY use it.

  • I didn't know it was a car, but yes, naming your child after a car is very white trash to me (think the boy named Dodge on My Name is Earl),  And Ashley is totally 80's to me, so between the 80's name and the car reference the image of White Snake's "Here I Go Again" music video with Twany Kitaen sprawled across the cars comes to  mind

Maybe Portia would be a classier alternative?

  • Love Ashley, Carrera not so much.
  • Thanks everybody!  Obviously I realize we both have power of veto... DH has been so passionate about this one though.  I thought it would help to have a few third party perspectives to lay this one to rest! :)

DH and I discussed the name Portia via text message. He sent "Portia Carrera?" to which I jokingly replied "Portia Cayenne." He said he loved that but really thought I wouldn't go for it. I was joking, he was not. Whoops. I don't think we'll discuss baby names via text anymore. But seriously, he really likes Portia Cayenne. IT'S A FREAKING CAR!!! Ugh, boys. Confused

  • If my H  wanted to name my child after a CAR I'd kick him in the ding a ling!
  • LOL!!!  I must admit I'm relieved that my husband isn't the only one thinking along those lines!!
