Do they run small or big in comparison to say Old Navy / Gap? I've never bought Carters before and I'm not sure what size to get. DS is just starting to fit into ON/Gap 12-18 mo, so would I get Carters 12 mo or 18 mo?
I think Carter's runs bigger. It always took DS longer to get into them. Right now he can still fit in 24 month clothes from Carter's. He can wear a 2T in some shirts from Carter's though. Pants he definitely needs 24 months.
Right now in Old Navy he is in 2T for shirts and 18-24 months for pants.
I am trying to remember, but last year when DS was in 18 month pants, he needed the 12-18 month pants from ON and I think he was in the 18 month pants from Carter's.
DS has always needed a bigger shirt size than pants size though. I try not to buy 2 piece sets. DS is skinny though and every kid is different.
Right now she is wearing 12 month in Carter's and 12-18 month in ON. I love Carter's, they don't seem to shrink like some other brands do and they hold up so well.

DD wears a lot of Carters and I think it runs bigger then Gap (we don't have any Old Navy). Gap 24 mo is almost snug on DD while Carters 24 mo is still a little big. I would think your LO would fit Carters 12 mo now, but I would only buy a couple things and see how they fit since you may want to go ahead and get 18 mo to give some grow room.
DD wears Gap 18 to 24 right now (fits great) and Carter's 18 month. She wears some Carter's 24 b/c that's what we have for fall, but really her 24 month stuff is still a bit too big.
She wore Gap 12 to 18 for a long time, when she wore Carter's 12 month and started to wear Carter's 18 month. She JUST outgrew her 12 to 18 jeans recently and had to move to the next size.
Thanks everyone! We don't have Carter's here (that I've seen at least), and we're going to Phoenix this weekend and there is a Carter's outlet that I wanted to go to!!
