how long of maternity leave did you get?

I work part time and I have to go back financial wise about 3 1/2 to 4 wks after my baby is born. It isnt too bad because i would only have to go in like 3 days plus do some work at home. Both of our mothers will be babysitting the kids. How long did you or will you be getting off from work? Thank you

Re: how long of maternity leave did you get?

  • I have to go back after 6 weeks because my STD company are morons and will only pay for 6 weeks instead of 8 weeks like everyone else gets for having a c/s and what my doctors wrote me off for.

  • I can take up to 6 months, however most of that is unpaid. I only get 6 weeks of short term disability, which is paid at 50% of my salary. The first two weeks of that 6 weeks is a "phase out" period and don't actually get STD, but I have to use PTO during that time. I'll also use up whatever I have left of PTO (which won't be much because we accrue our PTO each month, we don't get it up front, so I'll have about 2 weeks at the time I go on maternity leave, not the 7 weeks that I would get throughout the whole year) during the remaining 4 weeks to get supplement the 50% STD to get 100%.

  • I get around 3.5 months, that includes STD + PTO + FMLA + company time

  • I got 6 weeks because I delivered naturally.  I was actually off the week before my due date because I was contracting at work and already dilated to 3cm and 80% effaced and my dr didn't want me going into labor at work.  If I got a c/s I would have gotten 8 weeks.

  • I have up to 12 weeks STD paid at 100%. I'll use at least 8 since I'm having a C-Section then use 5 weeks of vacation. We can take up to nine months off after delivery, but after that 13 weeks, it would be unpaid.

With DD, I had less time banked. I was out 6 weeks with STD and used 3 weeks of vacation.

  • I had 6 weeks of paid STD because I had a vaginal birth.  The first 30-days were full-day and the remaining time, up to 6 weeks was 50%?  I stayed off for 12 weeks and the remainder 6 weeks were unpaid leave that I could have used my vacation to supplement, but I decided not to.

This is what happened to me as well.  They basically told me it isn't that hard to recovery from a c/s anymore.  I didn't qualify for FMLA, so I risked loosing my job if I didn't go back.  My ob called them, wrote a letter and nothing worked.

  • Six weeks unpaid if I go natural or eight weeks unpaid if I go with a C-Section.

  • I can take up to 12 weeks under FMLA. I get 1 week paid in full and then will have 5 weeks (for vaginal) or 7 weeks (for cs) additional time off with 67% paid through STD. I am a teacher though and due in April, so I will take my time off for the rest of the school year and then get the summer off. I will end up with a total of about 5 months.
