DD trying to do sit up in bouncy chair

My daughter loves her bouncy chair.  However, the last couple of days she has been trying to sit up in it like she is trying to do a sit up.  She doesn't fuss or cry, she just wants to sit up.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Just curious if this means a new milestone is on the way.

  • yeah, DS does this too. I think they just want to more upright now to see everything that is going on. Lilly sat up on her own for the 1st time at 6 months, so I think we have a ways to go before that happens.

  • Wow that's young for her to be doing that, IME! That's when I stopped using the bouncey chair for my (now) toddler, I think she was about 8ish months? She was becoming a sitter of course around then. It just became sort of dangerous at that point as she could fling her top half over the chair (bottom half of course belted in).

DS will be 6mos in about a week and hasn't started doing that yet but is not yet sitting.

  • DD started with that last month. She can sit unsupported now so I know I should put the seat away. I'm nervous she will topple over!

Yup, sounds like it's time to retire the bouncy chair.  You don't want her flipping herself over!

  • DD strains to sit up from both her carseat and her changing pad. Again, no fussing, just really wanting to sit up. We now only use the bouncy seat for when we're getting ready in the morning. Otherwise she is in the bumbo or her activity center.

  • I've noticed that DD is pulling herself up from her swing.  Like she's bending over.  So now she can't be in the swing unless I'm sitting right next to her.  She hasn't done it in the bouncy seat yet.

  • My son is doing the same thing, trying to sit up in his bouncy chair.  I don't think he likes lounging back so much and wants to sit more upright.  It may be time to put the bouncy chair away.

  • Oh...my LO is also doing this in the bath as well, he tries to sit up on the wedge we have for his tub.  Guess he really wants to sit upright!
