Remember when A had that really horrible diaper area issue a while back. It started as diaper rash and ended up with an oozing infection all the way up his urinary tract.
Well, we keep having this problem, over and over again. His pediatrician thinks that he has super sensitive skin. He never sits in a diaper for very long at all. I've actually been setting a timer every 45 minutes to change him, unless I know that he needs it sooner. Still the child is bright red down there, and the tip of his penis (will it let me type that? don't see why not) gets oozy and crusty. It's horrible! Now, L wears the same cds, same wash routine, changed just as often ans has no issues at all. I've tried emab diaper creme, evey other creme under the sun, oatmeal baths, fleece liners to wick away the moisture, and putting him only in wool covers.
What do I do?! I don't want to give up on cloth for him, but so far frequently changed 7th gen sposies are the only thing that keep him from getting it.
Re: a little diaper dilema
Maybe try a regular Free & Clear detergent just to see? I know most diaper sites recommend a powder detergent, but I use Purex liquid F&C with absolutely no problems. It's actually the only thing that I've used that doesn't cause stink in my microfiber.
Perhaps this, and maybe use microfiber in pockets over a layer of hemp (or something more absorbent) so it wicks away moisture better? Honestly, though, with 45 minute changing intervals, I'm not sure what more you can do. I'd try plenty of naked time, but EF disposables may be your best option. It'd be very hard for me to give up on my cloth.
