OGI of Edina/Maple Grove & delivery at MG hospital

Hello ladies,

I'm 34 weeks & my husband and I just moved to MN for his job. We're in Maple Grove and I've heard decent things about Obstetrics, Gynecology & Infertility with offices in Edina & Maple Grove. Opinions about this practice and/or delivery at the new Maple Grove hospital? Time is of the essence and any help I can get is appreciated! Thanks much :)

  • I am unable to give you any information but I did want to Welcome you to MN
  • I do not go to that clinic, I go to Oakdale Obgyn. in Maple Grove and love them! They are located in the Maple Grove hospital. I am also delivering at the hospital in Maple Grove. I have been on the tour and it is gorgeous!! Everything is like a hotel. You have your own room during your stay and have access to many extra. Call the hospital or look online to see if you can set up a tour. I know some people that have given birth there and they love it.

  • I go to OGI in Maple Grove and I will be delivering at MG Hospital. I haven't seen the hospital yet (touring later this month) but I have been very happy with OGI. I see Dr. Graczyck (sp?) and I really like her.

    Btw, welcome to MN!

  • Congrats and welcome!

I used OGI, both the Maple Grove and Edina locations and saw Dr. Lisa Baker and I LOVED her!  All the NP's and office staff are great too.  We had a multiple pg, as well as being high risk, with a few extra surprises thrown in too.  I always felt that they were able to handle anything that came our way, and any specialists I saw expressed their full confidence in Dr. Baker and the practice in general to handle my pg.  In the end, this reduced costs because they were a 'one stop shop'.

I had planned on delivering at Maple Grove, but unfortunately the day that I was scheduled to tour the hospital, I ended up being admitted for pre-ecclampsia and my doctor felt that Fairview Southdale was better equipped to handle my issues and the potential prematurity of my babies.  I have heard wonderful things about Maple Grove though.

My experience with Fairview Southdale was amazing - I was there for two weeks on bed rest and loved all of the L&D staff, as well as the post pardem nurses and NICU nurses.  They are all wonderful,  and I was always comfortable there.  I think they deliver more babies there than anywhere else in the metro...or something like that.

  • Not OGI, but I'm also seeing Oakdale OB, and I'll either be delivering at Maple Grove or North Memorial.

I like Oakdale, and I've heard a lot of good things about MGH.

Husband has cystic fibrosis. I'm a carrier. We did TESE, IVF, ICSI, and PGD. After two failed IVFs, we were blessed with our twins.

  • I go to OGI in Edina, and love Dr. Darrah (she should just be getting back from maternity leave).

I am still TTC #1, so I don't have any experience aside from her being great so far as my GYN. I am planning to use her as my OB when we get KU'd. I will be delivering at Fairview Southdale in Edina, as it is closer to home.

  • I actually went to the Maple Grove OGI office and my doctor was Dr. Lisa Baker. I really liked her. I would go to her again. She was actually not on call when I went into the Maple Grove Hospital so I ended up having Dr. Richard Gosen deliver DD. He was extremely nice as well and I really preferred a female doctor but he was so nice and I was in labor and ended up not minding. Also the NPs were super great.

I delivered at Maple Grove hospital in the first month it was open and loved it!! The food is great and it is super quiet. My SIL and a few friends have also delivered there and they thought it was great as well.

Hope this helps. And welcome to MN!!

  • MG hospital wasn't open yet when I had my son but I have seen Dr. Amy Brown with OGI for about 8-9 years now and love her. She has a great bedside manor, is very personal as well as a great obgyn.

(Completely unrelated but I think she delivered the first baby at the MG hospital!)

  • I went to OGI for my first pregnancy and loved the whole experience.  Dr. Baker delivered my baby and she was wonderful, but I have seen quite a few of the Dr's and Nurse Practitioners and they were great.  The nurse who was with me throughout my labor said she would let any of the Dr's from my practice deliver her baby.  I just had my first appointment today at the MG clinic for my 2nd pregancy and they were wonderful as usual!

I had my son prior to the opening of the MG hospital, but I plan to deliver number 2 there.

  • A little late in replying but I've used OGI for both of my pregnancies and had my second at Maple Grove Hospital.  I love OGI - I see Dr Brown but Dr Rice was on call for both my deliveries.  Very different personalities but they're both great.  We had a very good experience at MG hospital too.  Nice place and the nurses/staff all did a great job taking care of us.  Can't recommend either place enough.
  • Hi! I recently found out I am expecting twins and don't have a doctor at this time. I want to deliver at Maple Grove and was so excited to see your posting. Could you share with me if you had a c-section? I want to choose a doctor who's surgical skills are recommended because I had a c-section with my first delivery and expect a very high probability again, especially now! Thank you!
