1st Trimester

If you suffer from morning sickness

Do you actually puke?  Are you just queasy?  Are you dry-heaving?

I never experienced it with my first pregnancy, but this time my symptoms are completely different.  I thought I was going to puke on my way in to work this morning.  Fortunately the feeling went away after a few hours. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Re: If you suffer from morning sickness

  • I never puked with DD - I remember getting queesy, but not sick.  This time, I feel like the queesiness is worse and I have also come close to tossing my cookies, but was able to hold 'em back.  My symptoms always surge with my hormones - they'll be bad for a couple of days and then plateau off.  I am on a good day today, but not looking forward to the next surge!Ick!

  • I keep getting really nauseous but haven't actually puked yet.  The queasiness seems to come and go. Today I felt pretty crappy all day but I feel better now. It doesn't seem to have much rhyme or reason for me.

  • Well, I feel better after reading the last two posts because I have been pretty much the same too. It's my first and though I haven't puked yet I get nausea in surges with some days being better than others and some days being mainly queasy. I often get a gaggy feeling in my throat that may or may not be accompanied by the nausea. The gaggy feeling gets worse with strong smells.

Overall, it's not that bad- there are times when it feels like it will be forever before you feel good again but "this too shall pass."

    Good luck!

  • I could have written this post! I have felt afwul all day today and got sick last nightSad I didn't have this w/ ds

  • I just feel like I'm going to puke, but haven't actually puked.  This time around has been worse for me, with my son I felt kind of icky but still had an appetite and very specific cravings.  This time NOTHING ever sounds good and I've had to try ginger ale and sour jolly ranchers just to make it through the day.  I've found that if I do eat I feel better though (although it feels like I'm on the anti atkins diet---all bread, all the time)!  The heartburn is ridiculous too, even from the most simple or plain food...I'm chasing everything with Tums!  :(
  • I'm nauseous almost all the time, and dry-heave quite a bit.. mostly in the mornings/early afternoons.  I've only puked twice so far.
  • Nauseous and def dry heaving. Puked once yesterday- I need to actually wake up in the middle of night- eat toast- so its not sooo bad in AM!!

  • I was nauseous and dry heaving from about 6-8.5 wks but didn't actually throw up. I'm feeling much better lately and just have occasional nausea. Well, every now and again a smell might cause me to gag...

  • I was never sick in my first pregnancy but this time I am.

I haven't thrown up yet, but I"ve never been one to throw up even when actually sick, so that's not weird.

I'm just dizzy an weak feeling a lot. Also I have a headache more times than not.

  • I actually just looked at my "journal" in the pregnancy organizer I bought the other night because I was thinking about just how long I've been getting sick...I've puked almost every day since early October.  Usually its in the mornings, but I've had a few right before dinner time.  I stay mildly nauseous all day long, but can usually function alright.  I don't think I've gone more than two days without getting sick.  Days when I don't get sick (like today), I usually dry heave a few times.  It sucks and I keep waiting for it to get better, I'm telling myself if will be gone my Thanksgiving, but of course that is wishful thinking.

  • All of the above for me..it's horrible...some days are better than others. I've done ok the last couple days so I'm hoping it stays this way!

  • I feel the same way and am getting so frustrated.  I have puked but then the nauseous feeling comes back a little later.  If I do eat I usually feel better but so hard to find something that works.  When will this stop?  I am so excited, this is our first, but its hard when I a sick all day long.
  • From weeks 5.5 through 7, I was extremely nauseous all day long and vomited several times. My ob gave me Zofran and it really helped. It took my nausea down to queasiness and I haven't gotten sick since (knock on wood). I'm starting to have more good days than bad, so I'm hoping my m/s might be coming to an end.

  • Nauseous all day long - especially after meals at the beginning and now if I get too hungry or too full (both very easy lately), but no regular puking (fingers crossed). I do feel quite queasy at times like this morning in the car. My hope is if it happens, I'm quick enough with getting the window down or pulling over and getting the door open, but so far... I'm just nauseous all day long.
  • I am dry-heaving. Last pregnancy I was puking non-stop. I also have had gastric bypass surgery since then, so I am sure that has some effect on how my digestive system works...and why I am dry-heaving as opposed to puking.
