How do you sleep train without disrupting other LO?

I plan on doing Ferber with Owen very soon. He is an awful sleeper & is only getting worse. Im worried though b/c Owen is a loud kid & we live in a small townhouse. If this takes several days & nights, how do I go about not disrupting #1's sleep?

  • white noise.

For us that meant a white noise machine in each kids' room, the fan running in the bathroom near their rooms and a box fan plugged in to the hall way by their rooms.

It sounded like a tornado but it worked.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • We tried white noise, but you could still hear the crying child. Luckily, my kids are all deep sleepers when they fall asleep, so it wasn't a big issue for us.

Also, we talked to the older child(ren) and told them that the baby was going to be crying a little bit and not to worry.

    It's worked for us.

  • we have white noise machines in both of the kids bedrooms.

a child crying in one room has never once made a child in the other room wake up - and they are RIGHT across the hall from each other.

Even with our twins- one crying doesn't wake the other.

  • I've been having the same problem. DD wakes up so easily & DS is a terrible sleeper. I'm going to have my mom take DD this saturday over night and MIL will take her sunday over night so I'll get to start working w/ DS and not have to worry about DD. It only took about 5 days to get DD sleep trained. I've got my fingers crossed. I remember the first few nights were the worst. Thank GOD for grandma's!
