When a faker is called out, do you ever wonder who is on the other side of the computer. Do you think it is a crazy lady obsessed with multiples or a bored, bald man who never has a date or a pimply 12-year old boy or just a regular person out to have fun. Just thinking.

Yeah, I usually think it's a woman who is in desperate need of attention/sympathy.  Sometimes a young girl.

 

When I was pregnant with my son in 2004-2005, I was a member of another board. There was a girl on there who claimed to be pregnant with twins.  We believed her, had no reason not to, as she was posting pics of her belly and all that, right along with the rest of us.  When we started to deliver, she had her twin boys....but one of them tragically died.  Her other son was fine tho, and she posted pics.  Well, a few of us knew things didn't add up...and did some investigating....she was never pregnant with twins. Until this happened, I couldn't imagine that someone would fake such a thing on the internet!  wtf??

 

People are quite amazing sometimes.

One woman who faked that she had triplets (she had a blog with my pictures) told me (of course she could be lying about this too) that she had had multiple losses and this was how she coped. I wouldn't doubt that this is the case sometimes too.

But definitely bored 17 year old girls, too.

Seriously?  I think it's sick for some to pretend some of those things.  Obviously those people have serious issues!

I think it's normally a peer that wants multiples b/c they think they're neat.  I think maybe they're pg or not, but they find this board and want to be involved in the club.  You have to admit, it is a pretty cool thing to be a part of and only a very small few of us will ever get to experience it.  I don't agree with it, I do think it's creepy, but I can kind of understand it.

Like pp have said, I think fakers are (most of the time) lonely women who need sympathy and/or attention. And that's really sad to me, when I think about it. On the other hand, I also think some fakers are the 17 year old girl types who have lots of time on their hands. These are the ones that are really into baby names and things like that...

I know a girl IRL who is about 25 and does have 3 kids but is always saying sheis pregnant to me or others (especially when one of us is pregnant) than claims she lost the baby. Well her husband works with mine and he told my DH that was snipped when he asked if his wife was pregnant!

I remember that! I was also going to say, some women who have had multiple losses do this as well as a way to 'cope'. I have had one prior loss and honestly...at that point in my life I was always jealous of anyone who was pregnant, and actually preferred to keep my distance because it just upset me. Joining them by 'faking' a pregnancy just seems insane to me.

I guess that nothing should surprise me any more..but WOW!...I think some people also have mental health issues that cause this problem.  I just don't understand it, but I know that people are out there that would do this.  I just feel sad for them!
