VBAC

DH Overheard someone chatting in Target

about being nervous about a VBAC.  I almost wish I was there to have pounced and tell her about some of the resources in our area, although, to be honest, I am pretty sure I would have minded my own business.  The gal in question had the same circumstances as I did (DH is a good overhear-er) with a failed induction.  Kind of fun to hear of others in the area trying for a VBAC - other than online ICAN stuff, I haven't known anyone who has attempted a VBAC, even through prenatal yoga, etc.

Re: DH Overheard someone chatting in Target

  • That's great that there are others in your area looking to VBAC. I know of only one person in my area who VBACed and hers was an accident (she just happened to go into labor and give birth for her 3rd after 2 c/s). My OB mentioned that most women here just want to schedule a repeat c/s. I thought that meant he wasn't pro-VBAC until I looked up the stats and my state unfortunately has the lowest VBAC percentage in the country (only 2.5%).  I still don't know if my doc is truly pro-VBAC and wish I wish I had someone in my area to chat with.

That is so hard to figure out without knowing someone who has been through it with that doctor (at least when there aren't really high rates of VBAC)!  Any chance you have an active local ICAN chapter?

  • Nope, no ICAN chapter remotely close...no need for it with pretty much no one wanting a VBAC. I'm the only one I know who plans to attempt one. Everyone I know is going for RCS regardless of whether they are a good VBAC candidate or not.
