I got each of us 1st Christmas as a mom/dad ornaments. They are personalized with the year and our name. I ordered them from Bronner's Christmas shop. It will be a nice keepsake.
My fiance has been fantastic. Just completely wonderful, I couldn't have asked for anything better! So, in addition to the baby we will be coming home with, I got him a new PS3 for the basement and a weekend trip with some friends. He really deserves some "him time!"
If I can figure out how to swing it (and I may not be able to), I'd like to get the baby some Raiders onesies or something, since Daddy is a HUGE Raiders fan...Kind of one of those "kill two birds with one stone" things!
I gave my DH a new video camera that records on the tiny dvd's. His old video camera was seriously from like, 1996 or something- it actually took a tape. So I used 'having our baby' as an excuse to get him a new one.
Funny, I got it so he'd have a better way to record the labor and (modestly) the delivery for far away family, but it wound up being used for his car functions and wasn't even charged when we went to the hospital. So much for it being there to record family moments!
I am putting together a hospital survival kit. Some of his favorite candy and candy bars, magazines, newspapers from back home and a dvd. Other than that, nothing.

Sorry I guess I didn't answer the question. I think you could get him a Flip video camera or some type of gadget. If he wears watches maybe a new watch get it engraved later with the date of your LO's birth.

You and I definitely think along the same lines! I'm getting mine a Kindle (he's wanted one for a while) and a weekend getaway. Granted, the getaway will be with his 35 weeks p/g wife, but still...

well in addition to giving him his first child< i found a book that is a collection of 28 essays or letters written by fathers to their daughters. It's called something like "what I would tell her" a bit of what others dads feel about raising strong and smart girls. He's a reader and he'll love it.
Thank you ladies!!! Lots of great ideas... We already purchased a camcorder so it looks like it will be a survival kit, a weekend away and a sentimental personalized frame.

Nice cigars for him and his close guy friends to enjoy after baby's arrival. I "personalized" them with paper that have baby's name on it.
