VBAC

So excited to see this board!

Where was it when I needed it?! To introduce myself, my first DD was a scheduled c-section for her size. They thought she would be 10 lbs 13 oz. I went into labor on my own but they went ahead and did a c-section. She was 10 lbs 1 oz.

I switched OB's with this pregnancy and then switched again around 28 weeks because my second OB started talking about having another c-section if my baby was measuring big. Well I delivered a 9 lb 15 oz baby via VBAC with no problems. Not as big as nosoup I hear! Anyway, just though I'd introduce myself and say how exciting it is to see this board.

  • agree with you, I'm looking at my options now (as I have since my c-section with my son) and wondering what to do. I would like to feel like I have some control over the situation, but my hospital/practitioners are acting as though the scalpel is already sharpened and it's a done deal. I have 15 more weeks to figure it all out. Glad to see this board, I need some hope.

Have you checked to see if you have an ICAN message board in your area? That was one of the things that helped me the most... the women on there had experience with HBACs, midwives, OB's, etc that were open to VBAC so that was a great local resourse for me. Good luck in reaching your goal. You can do it!

  • Ditto to ICAN!  While my current midwife "allows" VBACs, I don't like some of their restrictions and will be seeing a new midwife group starting at 25w.  Good luck!

  • I was happy to see this board as well, though it was a little late for my July VBAC. I went through a lot to get the birth experience I wanted, and I can say emphatically that it was so much better than my c/s... and that was a planned no complications c/s. I hope all of the ladies on this board can have successful VBACs

  • I agree, until today I never realized this board was here and am in the process of switching OB's and coincidentally to one that is much more VBAC friendly.  It wasn't my original intention but the more I think about it the more I want a VBAC and there are lots of good advice and helpful links!

Good luck to all of you.

  • Ditto!  I just found this board and have been stressing over the VBAC or c/s for what feels like forever.  While a VBAC seems scarier than c/s to me, I think it is the better choice so I am trying to prepare myself mentally & physically for one.  It will be great to know I have place to come with questions and fears.
